Spain Defeated
by topspin on Jun 17, 2010 10:54 AM  | Hide replies

It was shocking to see spain going down like tat despite have 63% possession of the ball.Their strikers didn't try to finish the score rather displayed unwanted passes between their forwards. they could have easily scored in atleast 3 occasions. Villa was looking rusty. They should have anticipated how Swiss would adopt a defending style and should have been creative in their goal scoring. Should have changed their style of play after the half time.A team with names like Villa, iniesta, xavi, alonso, puyol, torres should have done justice to their talent.Disappointing finish.Hope they come back the next game....

Spain Vs Switzerland
by Aloo Yadav on Jun 17, 2010 09:58 AM

The encounter reminded me of Nadal-Federer matches.
In 2008, Spain won the Europian Championship for the first time, and Nadal won at Wimbledon to make it sweeter for Spain.
Now, Spain, despite being highly fancied, could be struggling to survive. Is it the shape of things to come for Rafael Nadal?

No point in palying beautiful games
by Bala on Jun 17, 2010 04:02 AM

From 1974 to 1994, despite of classic and stylish display of beautiful games, Brazil could not win any world cup. In the 1990 world cup, after Brazil clearly dominating 100% of the time, Argentina's Caniggia’s header had shown Brazil the exit. Then Brazil decided to mix Latin American beauty with European defensive tactics.

Spain needs to learn a lesson from today's match. Learn the tricks of Gerd Muller, Diego Maradona, Paulo Rossi, Romario, Baggio, Bebeto, and Ronaldo. You need to score goals to win the game.

if only nadal reaches the final.. he has a habit of losing early in grand slams other than french open.

We'll see. Frankly, I wouldn't be suprised if neither fed or rafa made it to the finals.

European League is killing football
by Abhijit on Jun 17, 2010 12:03 AM

Latin American football is the real football. Too much of club football is killing the art of the game.
Matches are boring & players are loosing skills. All due to European style football & followed by players from Latin American players.
Save the game.

Which ever team Pele supports, bites dust. Hope Spain does well in later stages to prove their worth. Well done Swiss.

Half time stats clearly showed that spaniards were playing well. But there was no momnetum towards opponent goalpost. It was as if they were playng a friendly match to display their a)team spirit 2)passing skills 3)command over the ball.Football requires Skill,Stamina and speed.Their onslought was horrifying. No agression.I think they were doped by female hormone! No finishing only holding to the ball .Kick man Kick.and Kick with strength! Swissmen played good soccer. They have surely strong thigh muscles.Bravo!
