Football - Neighbours envy owners pride
by avelino mendonca on Jun 12, 2010 04:54 PM

When Pele and Maradona came to india everyting
was at a standstill. The Bengalis,Goans,Keralites, Maharashtrians and all indians want to set them but if tendulkar goes to argentina and brazil or european or african or asian countries he has to recognised
by indian and the photo has to send to rediffmail to post it. Even the passerby do not recognise them and this player u treat as GOD. Shame on u all.

you have hit the nail right on its head . offcourse t20 is just great and awesome , fours , sixes , run outs , run chases , dives , great fielding to save every run , tied matches , its complete entertainment, compare all this to goalless draw match between two team showing no effort to score , what shud the public see in their match? the silly non sense , good for nothing passes? wats the use of 90 minutes of passing , when not even a single goal scored , and no player in either of two teams bothered about scoring goal, no effort made, do they want people to see how good they are in skills of kicking the ball like donkeys from here and there , they must be in cricus for good

So much hype about Nothing!
by sandeep kumar on Jun 12, 2010 04:04 PM  | Hide replies

Indian newspapers, ven the times of India were full of photos and columns about the so called moost watched event on earth. I saw 30 mins of Frances match, and just went to bed. IF this is the most watched event, then god save this world!! I would rather watch an action packed game of 2020 with its sixes, diving catches, sliding outfield stops, tension filled runchases, than watch two teams who have no interest for goal. Remember even the most hyped 2006 final was a crashing bore, what do you remember other than the famous headbutt! And India will never play football WC in another 100 years, so why on earth are our papers hyping the fortunes of a mexico,or a paraguay or korea??

we can see the futbal highlights by just the goal scored..cricket its not like tht..every ball is excitement. Futbal is a street game-Cricket is a gentle man game. No one can compare cricket with futbol.

If futbol is watched by 1 billion people in the world then India alone has tht much following. Adding the sobcontinent and other countries, this figure even more than 1 billion. Now tell which game is more popular???

Noisy crowd
by rocky on Jun 12, 2010 04:00 PM  | Hide replies

the matches have become very noisy and unable to hear the commentators at normal volume. the locals are fond of blowing the venezule (trumpet) and its making a buzzing bees sound... they should be banned from bringing the music instrument.

what jose said was 100% correct. WC is not bigger than UEFA. the players are rusty, no combo or commnique btn the players. yda's match was the best example that football is surviving only cos of league matches & UEFA. I think whne there is WC like event to happen all other football matches should come to an end before 3 months so that nationeal players get to know each other & play good football. today u may see some brilliance fm messi or say a gud match from brazil as they r good at dribbling & maybe spain where every player is well known in spainsh leauge & EPL. but i doubt WC can competitive like UEFA where all players are world class & enjoy gud commnique btn players as they play with each other very often

my friend , odi match between India Australia in 2007 at the jawaharlal nehru stadium in kochin witnessed more than 97000 spectators , same in eden gardens . No doubt there is special love for football in bengal and kerala , but cricket can rule everywhere in India, just wait how kochi IPL team sets the state on fire next year, most of the atheletes and former unknown soccer players are already getting intimitaed with this move lol

further dont make it a north versus south debate , in karnataka , tamil nadu aur andhra pradesh , cricket is the number one game. ever seen the large crowd support at chinnaswami stadium in bangalore , or u were just watching boring highlights of boring soccer matches during that time? cricket rules everywhere in India where it must count
