Brasil

Lots of people say loads of things. But world cup sans Brasil is like a fabulous spread of dinner that lacks flavor and taste. All that they have to do is to go back to their samba style of football with deft short passes. This time they played like just any other European team. Dunga is to be blamed. Sure Ghana and Chile played great football. no doubt about it. But Brasil is what matters. They are loved all over the world as 'the team'. No other team creates this sort of passion amongst fotball fans. Let us all just acept that a great team has failed to lie up to its expectations. This time they were more intent on fouling than hitting goals.

Well said . I agree . One saw vintage Brazil only in the second goal against Chile - besides that everything seemed too "European" !!

I found Brazil losing confidence after the first goal scored by Holand..
I found that it is the height of the dutch players which made the difference. They will looking tall and imposing and got the goals due to the differnce in average heights..they were also more ruthless in orange colour..

In a way its good for the game that they lost. Time some other teams get a chance. They were too over confident and arrogant and paid the price for underestimating a determined Holland team.

Having one team dominate a game is too boring and will lead to its extinction. This result must be seen in that light

Correct! I agree with you. A team like Holland, Spain, etc who haven't won the WC till date, deserve a chance.

What makes you think Netherlands is a low profile team? Sneijder is one of the best mid-fielders in the world, feared and respected. Anybody who follows football knows how good Robben, Perise are. Bommel is a great holding player and there are very few players who can match the work rate of Dirk Kuyt. Just because these players' names don't appear in Indian newspapers mean the Oranje is a low profile team.

Dutch were always a good team. Only thing is not many people know about their players.
They were leathal during 1974 and 78 world cup when Johan Cruyf lead them to final but were unlucky to win.
I still remember watching the EURO final in 1990 when Ruud Gillit and Rijkaard both were playing.
I wish a non world cup winning team lifts the trophy. Dutch's chances are very good to reach the final. Spain also has a very good chance but they have to face a tough opponent in the semi.

Kaushik,
Looks like you follow football a lot but haven't played. How does it matter if it was a 88 or 90. I don't think you would have see football in 88. Did you? Man just following professional league for few years wont make you the master of the game.
Even if the years are wrong, how does it matter.. are you the correction master here... Live life and stay happy then proving other wrong...

Shesh Lak,

Why go nuts when corrected?
You have to acknowledge if somebody knows soccer better than you!
I started watching from 1986 and recall very much the 0 degree goal in 1988 Euro Cup or how fighting with the coach killed the star studded 1990 Holland team's chances of winning the cup.

Mr Kaushik,
World cup was not aired in Indin during 1982... Don't you think you have so much of anger within you. Reading and searching on Google will get you all the info, that is not a big deal. First of all, learn how to talk to someone, the way you are using some nonesense word shows your character. Chill out.

Sneijder . Shortest man in the field
by Shesh Lak on Jul 03, 2010 12:40 AM

It was amazing to see the shortest man in the match scored a goal from head.. anything is possible...
Poor guy Filipo scored a own goal, had he not come in front of Julio Cesar, Dutch could have been denied the goal, but that didn't happen and everyone knows the result. Later Filipo was sent off on a red card.
