but India is no world champion in hockey. Its a sad little pathetic team, second from bottom. It is playing in this world cup only because it is hosting it. It couldn't qualify for the olympics...
Everyone knows that Pak team is far superior to the Indian team. I smell a rat here. In India there is no interest amongst the young people for hockey, and actually kids have to be bribed to play hockey. In Pak there is genuine grass-roots level interest in hockey. Something is seriously wrong here... Match fixing may be...

hockey is a dangerous game with more injuries and is a exteremly physical contact game, with players with sticks and hard ball that can rupture anyones head so its not a good game from the physical point of view wrt players.maybe this was the reason it did not get popular in the world.otherwise its more or less like football

YES AND CRICKET IS A SAFE GAME. RAMAN LAMBA (FORMER TEAM INDIA PLAYER) DIED DANCING ON THE STREETS. HA HA HA

risk is low compared to hockey.do u have any other examples besides it.
Wat a game . Tickets prices were too high . I couldnt get a ticket to watch the game.Fully crowded. Crowd was cheering . I missed the action in stadium.
Just a joke . this is the situation for cricket not hockey. For hockey even if tickets are sold for free there wont be any spectators.
Hockey involves too much bending and running, its back breaking, no lunch breaks, no tea breaks, no susu breaks, not 12th man, no dancing girls, girls dont watch it, no fun in playing, most of the hockey players look starved...
jokes apart, being a former player, hockey is an intense game which requires very good coordination of hand, feet & eye, its not game for lazy and also its not a spectator friendly sport, hockey is for the brave intense people, unlike cricket.

Absolutely, hockey is for men. It is very pulsating and one one cannot take eyes off TV , for things may change in an instant even in the last minute in any match unlike cricket

Yes sir!
Having played at college level, I can vouch for intensity of the game. You are constantly on the move. As you said, hands, feet and eyes are required; to this I add instant decision-making and action, meaning using the brain as well.
It’s a good beginning! Indian hockey team must win the world cup if the players want to redesign their futures like the way Indian cricket changed after 1983 WORLD CUP, 1985 BENSON & HEDGES CUP and 1987 ROTHMANS CUP. If not, hockey players will be back to square one and will have to keep on struggling to get their salaries and dues.. A world cup win can entirely change the scenario and expand the fan base for our national side. So, carry on guys! Your aim should be to lift the world cup ….CHAK DE INDIA, We as sports lovers would not wish that our hockey players to have run from pillar to post and ask for CHEQUE DE INDIA!!! Thanks to our coach Mr Brasa for bringing in new confidence and technique and trying his best to protect the players from the grubby politics of the country’s disreputable sports administrators.

watever u told was right but its not the players but the hockey management.they r hell bent in ruining hockey even india wins wc or olympic gold.unfortunatly no future for hockey in india and therby the world coz india is the money spinner

thow the mgmnt to dustbin and make kiran Bedi the president of indian hockey federation and dhanraj pillai the secretary. see the difference
Very good result. Good opening. It's glad to see the change is penalty corner conversion ratio. Sandeep was fantastic. Also energy level of Indian players was very high. Indians were very good in defence and they were back to defensive area quickly with man to man marking. But lot is yet desired if we are thinking about remaining matches in this world cup. India need a good tapping as specially in the D. The hits taken outside and entering into the D requires lot more control. Some flew dangarously above the prescribed limits. Still Indian attack seems to be hesitant to hit the ball powerfully and quickly once inside the D. Indian hockey technique demands lot of running because we do not give long passes with powerful hits as Europeans do, so I prey the energy and fitness levels of players remain the same till end of tournament. Best of luck to Indian hockey!
