1) Van der Sar is too old now. So is Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes(His foul would have been a red card had it been any other player, I believe he escaped with an yellow).
Van der Sar has to accept the blame for 1st goal.

2)How can they miss out marking Messi? 2nd goal is copy book set piece conversion. Messi was totally unchallenged.

3) Ronaldo was over stressed.Probably comparing himself with Messi, in his sub-conscious mind. Yellow card he received showed his frustration.

4) It would have been a different game altogether had his free kick inside 5minutes could have been converted by Park.

5) I don't understand what formation Sir Alex was thinking by having both Berbatov and Tevez in 2nd half.Wasn't it desperation instead of shrewd strategy? And taking that point ahead what made him select Park ahead of these two guys at the start of the game?

Overall it was a wonderful game and Barca ruled all the way. No doubt

Fergi forget to put pressure on Barca's poor defense by not playing Scholes & treves in the first half..They were down by 1 and lost the dominance

Barca were lucky to reach final in the first place
by sandeep kumar on May 28, 2009 07:03 PM  | Hide replies

Did everyone forget how chelsea were cheated out in the semis by the inept referee? Messi, xavi etc were anonymous against the likes of terry, lampard etc. The prob with ManU was giving BArca space to play. Also, they were unlucky with HArgreaves out..he is miles better than carrick. And Ronaldo remains the best player, Messi had one good match aganst English opponents. LEts wait and watch. Dont forget his record against English clubs is 20 matches, 1 goal.

Seems like a comment of a desperate Manchester United fan. Fergie should have taken some time to coach these guys some soccer and not just rugby and kabaddi.

Man U and Fergie are the ones who have dominated footballing history...time and time again...so relax Prasanna..they were the defending champions..no club has defended the CL crown..isn't big deal they lost..

I can understand you are seeing football just because your friends talked about the same. Outside England Manchester United's record is pathetic.

Etto to begin with

in the first ten minutes it was man u all the way but after that cool strike from etto things turned rapidly so I would give the credit to etto to begin with.

Carrick and Giggs failed
by AjayKumar SN on May 28, 2009 06:48 PM  | Hide replies

Carric and giggs were miserable in the midfield.. Ronaldo is a highly overrated player.. Man U shuld have concentrated more on rooney.. Dissapointing match

Ronaldo (like Beckham) is a showman. no dbt he scores goals but generally fails against the biggest teams. futbal is a team game and the team that plays as a unit almost always wins. thats the secret of barc and arsenal (maybe their time will be coming if wenger buys a couple of experienced big guys who are not showmen). the english are loud mouths and if manu had won the queen would have come running to the airport literally

Eto made the difference
by Manuel Vaz on May 28, 2009 06:38 PM

ManU came all guns firing in the first eight minutes. But, Eto's superb goal shattered ManU and from then on they lost the plot as Barcelona started dominating and ManU looked like school kids.
Also, the strategy of Ferguson to keep Tavez and Berbatov out of the first eleven backfired as his side failed to dish out champions stuff.

Was it ManU
by Sudip Basu on May 28, 2009 06:32 PM  | Hide replies

I dont think it was ManU opposite Barca yesterday. Some trainees playing against pro.
Iniesta, Xavi, Messi & Eto made the difference and Iniesta was best of the lot.....

My feeling is anderson,Carrick are quite average footballers. Anderson does not get a chance Brazil team. With this midfield how can u expect to beat Barcelona. Xavi and Iniesta both are super players. With Messi there it was impossibble for Anderson , carrick to stop them. Also Ryan Giggs is too old to play a final now.

Iniesta looks like the worlds best!!!
by elamaran elango on May 28, 2009 06:31 PM

After watching two legs over the semifinal and the final along with the EURO 08, Iniesta looks to be the best in the world.

No one was able to take the ball out of him. After Zizou(Zinedine Zidane) Iniest looks to be a real player who can split defences in seconds. He holds the ball so well ,dribbles past 2/3 defenders at a time.

impeccable ball control, dynamic vision and he looks much better than Ronaldo if not messi.
