The four Grand Slams and the Davis Cup are important tournaments on the Annual Tennis Calendar !
by cajetan coelho on Sep 07, 2008 09:35 PM

Qualifying to play in the prestigious Grand Slams and in the Davis Cup ties are already great steps in the careers of tennis stars. Winning the rounds, QFs, SF's and having a go at the opponents in the finals are extraordinary feats. Doing it year after year over a decade and a half is mind boggling. Well done Leander.

Leander is the best sportsman with all passion about the game that he have chosen. It was a tough path one should understand that those days the sport Tennis is not too established as it is now. He has shown lots of courage, passion and aggression in every match he played. It would be great team if he is paired with Mahesh even despite he is outstanding guy and absolutely lots of medallions his way have proved that we should be proved about our countrymen. Hats off!!

Those days? Leander wasn't born in 1873 dude. Tennis was as established as cricket in the hey days of Leander Paes. Remember that the likes of Vijay Amritraj, Anand Amritraj and Ramesh Krishnan were his "predecessors" in India.

Has Paes completed Grand Slam in Tennis
by Shari on Sep 06, 2008 01:25 PM  | Hide replies

Can somebody tell whether Paes has completed Grand Slam of a Tennis event i.e either winning all four grand slam events - doubles or mixed doubles. PAES has re-ignited the Sporting passion on World stage which started with India's triumph in 1983 Cricket World Cup, that is still glowing in every olympics.

The title gives an impression of failure of PAES.Please do not take away the credit by negative titles. He has won the mixed doubles title in US open. You could have titled Paes stands runnerup/second best or something like that!!
