He is undoutedly the best Chessman available after Kasparov.. He has been bringing colors to India in the international arena but the game is far hidden under the Cricket loving sponsors..

Sreedhar, we are equally responsible for non-cricket sports in India.
I am 100% sure, no one will watch a chess live in TV which Anand would be heading to victory (or for that matter a badminton match which Pullela Gopichand would be heading to victory).
Instead most (almost all) Indians watch repeat telecast of T20 final match which India won beating porkis. No matter, which has been watched 100 times earlier, still we love to watch 8 year old cricket matches rather than live matches of other sports, no matter our guys are on the verge of victory. So, don't blame authorities alone.

aptly said Sreedhar. Do you know why this game is being ignored because Anand belongs to forward community. Chess is intellectual game and cricket is fools game - Bernad Shah has himself ascribed to this.

Balasubramanian, I think "Bernad Shah" is the one who said, cricket is played by 11 idiots and watch my million idiots in idoit box.
He said, 1. Sachin/Gavaskar/Akram/Steve/Lara/Richards/Jayasurya as idiots. 2. Said, all of us as idiots 3. Said, TV as idiot box.
I don't see any other idiot than Bernad Shah, how stupid he call players idiot? He may not like cricket, but why TV? Is he from Afghanistan?

It is heartening to know that India becoming super power in important areas including sports. No one in the universe can stop her growth, I dare all the terrosists and anti nationals to stop & stop bombing in India. It is not far reach FOR INDIA TO TAKE THE WORLD TOP POSITION.
What is the reaction of so-called blood thirsty 'Jihadis' among Indian Muslims. They must be ruing the fact that Anand is not a Muslim. These pitiable creatures should learn that religion or its perverse interpretation is not everything and that no faith or relgion makes one great or noble but a person's deeds and achievements do .

u prooved that consitentancy is he key to success. I admire u Sir. Anand.... No matter media pay attention to u or not we will always remind u for ur great work in chess and showing us path for great temperment...thanks....
its really great feat ...... we all should feel proud of vishu..... i think we should come out of cricket mania and start giving Recogination to other sports person .
He is ahead of our times. As Raghavan has said we do not realise the value of this victory, we (including the media) are running after small achievements but a great feat like this and an consistency for past 25 years requires a lot of research work for the media to understand this. No mouthing by small time reporters repeating the same sentences again and again. He truly deserves a Bharat Ratna. May be 20-30 years down the line will we recognize.
