ANJU WHO???
by Arun Nair on Mar 18, 2008 06:53 AM  | Hide replies

Yes, Anju who? We were tantalized by her promises when she made an impression at the World Athletics Meet. But, besides that...what the heck has she done that can possibly make us proud? She needs to have her priorities clear in her mind, before she makes such comments about a personality who has a far better image than her, all over the world. The Payyoli Express will remain forever as the Payyoli Express. That credential cannot be belittled or taken away from her. Anju, it would be wise if you stick to the task at hand, and concentrate on what you can do on the track. Your sarcasm will not do you any good...and it is also for your coach and husband to understand that you are not in the same league as the PE, at least at this moment.
Do it! Then we shall listen to you...

Anju is just a fluke performer. She got the World silver when most good jumpers were taking time-off to prepare for the more lucrative Golden League. Anju is under pressure from her sponsors to get some publicity and being "negative" is her only chance now.

But look at Usha, After all her medals she's still a TEAM PLAYER. She does not want to hurt the chances of her nation getting a medal by choosing NOT to hurt Anju. Excellent Spirit! She's still a World Class sportsperson, a true Champion.

And finally, this news itself is published not because ppl know Anju, but becos ppl know P.T.Usha. That says it all.

Once the words are out, we cannot put it back. Sometimes, it is better to keep the mouth shut and pretend to be a fool, that open it and remove all doubt!

It is a fact that PTU has not won Olympic medal. That hurts us all, as she lost by a whisker. But to deny that she is not world class is rubbing it in, on the still sore wounds.

I always hail the achievement of PTU as she was a pioneer and was at least a giant in the Asian circuit. To compare her with world's top athletes is not fair as the facilities and environment are different. By the same token, I am sticking my neck out to a current furore. While Sania may come out not like a meek village girl (that we see only in some filmie themes now) her successes are due to her talents only. To compare her with others like Mueresmo etc is like pitting the women against men! Such is their physical stature. Look at Serena, and can Sania shriek like Venus.

PTU came at a time when we even our men just participated in Olympics and officials went on a jumboree. I saw once our table tennis team saundering in, but could not practice as the tables were booked by others! The official told me they managed to arrive just on time and the players can catch up on some sleep sitting in the chairs! PTU will have all these and more to regale about her adventures!

It is never easy to be a pioneer and Anju, please so not take your eyes off the target. Also, media pls, pls cut out the crap and concentrate on the basics.

Not got for you Anju
by krapa varma on Mar 18, 2008 05:54 AM

I think Anju is an arrogant personality, she is proud of her selves, which may ruin her carrier in Beijing Olympic.

Respecting the senior player is very much important rather learn something from this kind of people instead (PT USHA) instead of criticizing her.

May be Anju may not even smell the Olympic medal this time....lol

I have never seen any player talking so bad to his/her senior. Its not at all sports man spirit. If he/she is your opponent then things are different. Proud, ego... these are the some of the best tools of this half or less success players.

Reacting to Anju's remarks, Usha said she would not want to hurt Anju now as that could affect her preparations for the Beijing [Images] Olympics.

"India is expecting a medal from Anju at the Beijing Olympics. If I answer to her comments, that will hurt her. I am not prepared to put her in such a mental state," she said.

-----Speaks volumes about ur character...Hats off PT!!!!
