This 'INDIAN' when i had first set eye on few yrs back, when he was just recovering from his carrer threatning injury moved, not because of his previous achievements (2 golds in CWG) but due to his attitude....which which most of us lack.... attitude to win.....he again proved me right today..... when u look in his eyes as he speaks, it speaks volume, he is a man so full of confidence, self esteem that gold is just near his reach.... go 'INDIAN' go..... he has all the traits like sania nehawal(it was unfortunate for her & nation...but she will win next year for sure).....BRING US GOLD AND NOTHING ELSE, NOW THAT WE HAVE TASTED IT'S PLEASURES ;))!!

We expect you to uinleash the lightining punches and attack the opponent and bring Gold for India .wish you the best.
You are a fighter to the core and success will be yours all the way. Keep cheerful and have faith in GOD. We all adore you for what you have done. We pray for your success. God be with you....
Good Luck Akhil. You beat the world champ yesterday and I am sure that will boost your confidence for the coming matches too...we cannot do much else wishing you good luck....but atleast we asure you that you will not be forgotten in case you do not win the gold. If not this time you will sure get it in 2012 in London....keep it up.
Thank you rediff for reporting this interview. Akhil Kumar comes across as a really nice guy, level-headed and very determined. He seems the sort of guy who will go out there and give his very best and work realy hard no matter what the opposition and odds.
It is very nice to know the human side of our athletes. It makes a whole lot of sense now to me as a follower of Olympics that I know Akhil Kumar more than him being just a name.
Very well done Akhil - just keep up the good work. You have made the path for yourself easier now by knocking out the world champion, but you still have 3-4 bouts to go before that medal is around your neck.
WE ARE RIGHT BEHIND YOU. WHEN YOU PUNCH YOUR NEXT OPPONENT, YOU MIGHT FEEL THE ENTIRE NATION PUNCHING WITH YOU. GO FOR IT MAN.
Wonderful work by the Mittal Trust. Keep it up Mr Mittal, and show the example for other super rich corporates like Reliance who can take up the cause of Indian Sport and help us win more medals.
Best of luck akhil. We look forward to see you as an winner. For people like you the country is changing. one day in olympic medal list we will be fighting with china or USA and people like you, bindra will be remembered. Chak de India
India has improved a lot in Shooting and Boxing in last 10 years. We had win a silver medal in last games. By the increase in participation, certainly our players will win few medals at this time. Our boxer had missed by only one win to win a medal in Sydni Olympics. Our players have chances of medal in Shooting, Boxing, Tenis and Archery.
Winning in Commonwealth dont count. Here in Olympics, he has to face the best of the worlds, Boxers from Cuba/ USA and Europe. No chance for him. Wastage of money on these 3rd grade players. Beter concentrate on our strengths - Hockey/ Shooting.

Mr Master, Olympics is all about the SPIRIT of SPORTSMANSHIP...... No matter which SPORT you pick up BOXING or HOCKEY,if there is a WILL there is a WAY........ I think you dont know anythin about the HUMAN SPIRIT & a MAN's Conquest for GLORY..... I would rather call you a LAZY BUM just belittling ppl by calling them 3rd GRADE Player.... its ppl like u 3rd GRADE PPl who make INDIA ashamed......
Im ashamed to be born in sucha WONDERFUL COUNTRY where ppl like u also are born......

Comment of Master is extremely disappointing. Akhil Kumar is trying so hard and we should just support him. I can easily understand how hard it would have been for him reach this stage. Too much money is flowing in cricket and still we are not number 1 in cricket. Moreover each game in cricket kills so much of time it's slowly becoming a curse for new generation of India. Every body is just running towards cricket and we don't know how many talents are wasted in the process to become an cricketer.

Hey Master,
I hope you meet Mr. Akhil Kumar in a dark alley one night. And you know what? While you shit in your pants waiting to be killed by him, he will walk away because it is not worth his time and effort to even bother about cockroaches like you.

Sorry mr. Master....but I hope you will never have kids of your own in your life...because of your passive attitude they will grow up as a failure for the society. Akhil is trying his best and yesterday he beat the world champ......give him some support please.......Are people like you really Indians ?
