I was hoping that Nadal will give good fight to Fedex as Fedex was not at his best and it survived 3rd round match agst Janko Tipsarevic. Unfortunately both are out of race. Waiting for next GS.

Since becoming an independent nation, I think Serbia is just promoting tennis and nothing else in their country. Too many "vic"s- jankovic,ivanovic,tipsarevic,djokovic...and they are fast growing..

Fedex Derails....
by maheswarasubrmanian sivagurunathan on Jan 25, 2008 05:55 PM  | Hide replies

Hurray!!!Fedex Kicked out from Aus.Open.
I dunno Why the Media is Creating too much Hype For Him....
Agreed he is a Good Player...But too Over Rated...
Frankly Speaking he doen't have enough Good Players to compete Thats the reason (Except NAdal).

If Federee Wud have been in to the Tennis in the 90's He cant able to acheive this much of fame...

Pete Sampras
Jim Courier
Stefan Edberg
Goran Ivanisevic
Andre Agassi.

But for fedex only nadal is some what a challenge that too only in Clay Courts...

and it keeps coming.......hey dude what are you gonna gain by bashing him.....losing once does not make him a loser, but your view that he is overated shows that you are no where to be rated.....its sad that sometimes great people are subjected to ridicule from those who have not achieved anything in life, courtesy such publications......it still baffles me as to how the media opens discussions like this allowing petty minded good for nothing people to write rubbish about great people and achievers

hey how do you know he's not achieved any thing in life....It took only one match for 35 years old Sampras 4 years into retirement ...5 years from playing competitive tennis....and without much practice....to figure out how to win a set against the MIGHTY FED which the so-called competitors of Federer are still not able to figure out stands up for itself. YES, agreed he's been a great player....but Don't forget 90's and 80's definitely had more better players playing at the same time. Which means u get punished for any single mistake of yours.

Someone commented jokingly that Federer would be back in form before your name can be read and I have to add something to it..

Federer would break Sampras' record of 14 grand slams before you start writing sensible comments.

The fact is that there are many good baseline players like Nadal, Nalbandian,Ferrer,Roddick,Hewitt,Safin,Baghdatisand so on but FedEx is so good that all these players appear mediocre my friend..

Wake up..

FYI- Federer played just once against Sampras and got the better of him. He also beat Agassi and would beat guys like Courier and Ivanisevic hands down any day any time.

Thats my two cents..

Do u know an iota of tennis or u newly just started following tennis. It seems you read only newspaper and dont watch tennis. even doubtful if you are good at reading too. FEDEX is anytime good player and the slang "Over rated" never fits to his pocket. He is too munificient, down to earth despite being such a great player. I come to only one conclusion I dont know anyting abt Tennis thats it otherwise I would have never made such kind of statement abt FEDEX.

I agree that Federer does not have that many worthy opponents. When he is challenged.. he literally crumbles n has never been gracious while loosing. You should see his face while loosing.. will look like suffering from digestion problem. But there are quite a few players who even when loosing look undisturbed. 1980s n 90s had players who are legend in their own rights, attained number one position in tennis. But now there's not much challenge for Federer. Agreed it's not his fault... still, when challenged you can see what happens. 80s n 90s had so many worthy players holding the number 1 like McEnroe, Connors (early 80s), Wilander, Lendl, Becker, Edberg, Sampras, Agassi, Courier n some really true specialists like Kuerten, Bruguera etc. If not for Nadal in the last 2 years.. Tennis would have been extremely boring.

that your opinion is alway negative against someone, that means it should be considered as opinion rather called as Criticize.

if u say " None of the Grand Slam in this year gonna be Fedex..." = Opinion.

but "...But too Over Rated..." = Criticize.

bcoz you are not a master or not even a player of tennis to say like that. always give comments rather dumping.

SErbia and Croatia have produced great tennis players. These two countries are so athletic. Monica Seles was unfortunate to get stabbed. Otherwise she would have been greater than Steffi Graf. All the best for Djokowich. The final should be interesting against Songa. Exciting Aussie Open.

On 19th Jan Roger Federer survived a massive scare scrambling to a 6-7, 7-6, 5-7, 6-1, 10-8 victory over Serb Janko Tipsarevic and iT was 3rd Round match. I was hoping Nadal will give good fight to Fedex, but unfortunately both are out of race.

the fact is that most people like to see a balanced game of tennis - becker vs edberg types - fedrer and sampras took the beauty of tennis away by their baseline game. Serve n volly matches are so rare now.

dude..i hope you are joking...

Sampras - a baseline player? I hope you know what baseline play is.

Coming to Federer, he is both a serve-N-Volley as well as a baseline player but with so many baseline players, he is forced to choose that game. Watch Wimbledon and you will know.

Right Kaushik, there is no point in arguing Tennis with guys who would call Sampras and Federer base liners. Both players excelled on Wimbledon, which is against base liners. These people neither know Tennis nor know how a serve & volley game is different from a baseline game. Both these names are great grass court players, serve, volley, smash, whips, spin, what have you - they had it all in ample measure. Becker, Edberg were grass court players who adapted well to other surfaces and won grand slams elsewhere also. And all four are / were perfect gentlemen. To write off Federer is too premature. But, he is being seriously challenged now. Nadal almost took away a 5th Wimbledon from him last year, it was only a matter of a few points not going the Nadal way. So, great depth in Tennis, where a no. 38 stuns a world no. 2 in straight sets, a no. 3 seed outplays Federer in straight sets. It is worth sitting before the TV on Sunday to watch the totally unknown Tsonga and the relatively less known Djokovic slug it out for the title.

Everyone, even Federer needs a coach
by Voldemort on Jan 25, 2008 05:37 PM  | Hide replies

Federer since firing his coach won a couple of slams comfortably. He perhaps started believing that he didn't need a coach. Since then, though he's been winning, his game doesn't look as sharp as it used to be. What that proves is that even someone as talented as Federer needs a coach.

NO that doesn't prove. Your proof is incomplete. Federer started winning slams without a coach. It was only after he had won a couple or more slams, that he went for a coach.
