Hi all, she could have easily faked an injury and sat out. She was injured during the fed cup, btw. No, she is courageous enough to tell the world why she refuses to play. Morons who don't deserve to see her in action will get just that. Muslims should be proud that one is No. 1 in Asia. They do not do any good after in the world and will not see others achieve! what kind of crap thinking is that. Progess! live neither in the 13th century nor in the 20th. live in the day

Stupid. Its the islamic mullahs who are objecting to her dress etc and now you are proud that she is a muslim.LOL.Dont be moronic & introduce Religion, caste & creed in sports. If she doesnt want to play, fine. If she doesnt want to be called an Indian even better. She has blown out to be a hot air baloon which will burst at any time.If she hates India so much why does she do ads in India.Whose money is paying for her developing her game & her fancy dresses.

Money monger !
by Devi Anand on Feb 06, 2008 03:35 AM

Well, No doubt she didn't want to play in India, because of the rivalry in business. But she won't mind getting money from Indians. Adding to that it is termed as ONE-OFF instance. We know what it means, everything will be OK for her when she plays in SUNFEAST with MAHESH :-)

Silly Act!
by abc on Feb 06, 2008 03:13 AM

She might have been under pressure due to trivial issues..But, she should not forget All the money and all the fame/publicity she enjoys today is only because of India. Had she been in other countries with a similar calibre, she would not have half this money or publicity.

Don't forget it's Indian fans who cheer you in tournaments across the globe. Not playing in India is very immature and a ridiculous move..

Award winning golden globes or does she use some paper?!
Yawn. She will start playing third tier tournaments in US and Europe, soon to wither away.

Sania please reconsider
by on Feb 06, 2008 02:06 AM  | Hide replies

I am a big fan of Sania - but do not support her current move. Sania has millions and millions of fans in India and through-out the world. Just because a few of them want cheap publicity - pulling out does not make sense as it is a slap in the face of her millions of fans who adore her and follow her every move.
Being in the US I can tell without a secoond thought that Sania is the only known/mentionded-about Indian sports person in the US. (Apart from the Indian polulation here - no one knows anything about Tendulkar or Dravid). Her boycott gives really bad publicity to India as it has become a big news in the US and it will be highlighted in every news story. Especially since the Williams sisters are pariticipating the world press will be there is great numbers and all their news-stories will highlight how "Indians troubled Sania".
Sania I know you are very patriotic. Do you want India's name to be rediculed through-out the world, just because of a few dumb guys. (By the way I think the person who put the case against Sania should be arrested immidiately)

Americans have no idea of Sania. It is only US Desis who make a big deal out of her. Come on, lets drop the big air, she is some 30th in the world and there are a lot more interesting faces and better players in the world for Americans to notice (as though that is a great criterea). Let us understand one thing, Mirza is in it for the money, she was denied $100,000 and has decided to try her luck next time.

if you are really such a fan, then stop complaining about what happens to image of India or millions of fans around the world and start thinking about how you can lend support to her fighting frivolous cases and the islamic fundamentalists and to some extent the media.. is it selfish to say that you want her to play no matter what happens to her in her personal life... if the decision was business oriented then your concern is valid... take it easy man!

Wht should we care about what Americans think?
We in India do not know what Super Bowl is. We do not know what NBA is. We do not understand difference in Soccer and Football. We think Base Ball is like Box Cricket.
Do Americans care.
Hell with them... For Us Sachin, Dravid, Saurav are superstars. They rule the WORLD.
