If you as any indian, who is greatest , Indians are greatest even though they are least and give excuse like this, since Mr.Phelps got good infrstructure He won 8 golds. The same if it give Indians they will win 10o golds.

if you have will power and determination you can achieve anything. if you want to be a smilmming champion why do you need a swimming pool just jump into a well and start swimming afterall water is water phillips has 8 golds who knows you may get 9 all the best to you

yes..true, and to be the greatest..Lot of determination and sacrifices are needed..and phelps has shown it 8 GOLDS in a single edition of olympics..amazing !!! ..sirf baato se graet nhi bana jata..mr mishra n sarma learn to appreciate the achievements of people from world..WORLD is also ours....grow up !!
Michael Phelps might be great swimmer and also one of the great sportsman from olympic. But i don't buy the concept he is greatest of all. There are many team events where lot of good performance are unnoticed. Don't they put same effort as these swimmer? Even bolt is as great as phelp. I personally feel too many medal throw for swimming and gymnastic. You can easily top medal list if country has top few gymnastic and swimmer.

I think he is the greatest. To have competeed at the world stae at the higest level in itsself is great achievement but to be on top every time you compete at this level is unbelivevable. remember dhoni and camp saying how difficult is to play back to back matches

it is rediculous 2 compare a individual event witha a team event. please dont behave like a imature. it is mentionable that dont forget the contribution of sachin has made to indian cricket. i can remember those days while india intour of australia only sachin who was dared to face them and all surrendered. AS lara is also a one of the finest bats man west indies too failed 2 win world cup in his teure... So, please dont compare with a team event with individual event.

if u should compare test then u should also compare 20 20 ..tell me how many matches in test sachin saved for India? how many he won? just records and runs..and in 2nd innings he fails most of the times..i have seen ponting saving matches,lara saving matches..pieterson saving but sachin just scores and gets out..he is record machine not win machine

Certainly i will agree with u that sachins record in 2nd ings is poor. but i have seen many matches where sachin scores and after he goes other members 5-6 unable to score mere 30-40 runs and india looses. You should give credit to a person who has played in a different time. in world cup semi 96 they could not delivered target252 sachin scored 54. while jayasurya 02... many more examples are there infact sachin saved india otherwise india would have scored lowest ever total in many matches.. Please dont question a man who has committed more than 16 year for India. And inthis contest u cant compare phellp with sachin as individual/team game. Here i must pat u infact u have a very good cricket knowledge.

cricket is a team game you loser , a single individual cannot single handedly win games.But his contribution indian wins is immense.go find urself.you put even bradman in to the teams that sachin has been in...he will definitely end up in the losing side.as bradman rightly pointed out for me to score runs some one has to be at the other end.

and ur question of 20-20 is not arised at all, as sachin is not playing any international 20-20 matches. about win, u please search google how many match india played with sachin and success rate v/s non playing success rate, u will get answer...
let me narrate a few real incidents that i have encountered/gone through.
1) Outside a place of worship in my home town, during a festival, i see a poor lady with a child in her hand begging for alms. the 'devotees' ignored that lady and paid all their attention to the 'god' who is supposedly there. the devotees were not hesitating to donate money to that place of worship but were completely insensitive to a fellow human being who was suffering there.
2) To successfully undergo an accreditation program, an engineering college of extremely high repute (in india of course) does some malpractice by showing fictitious names in its faculty list.
3) A subordinate of mine is proposing an act of forging a signature to get an undeserving benefit. when i raise objection to that being dishonesty, he replies "who will find out?" and thereby inviting me to be a party to that.
These are all real incidents and not cooked up. the first incident shows how selfish we are and how we painfully lack sense of social ethics and how embarrassingly we are insensitive to others suffering. The second incident is really pathetic. How the hell can this institution now teach honesty and professional ethics to its students, who are the budding engineers and in whose hands we have the future of this country? While the third incident reflects how we think when we do something.

Hi Test,
Giving support to deserving people is something. However, begging is different. By one estimate, more than 85% of the beggars are begging just because they do not want to do any work. Supporting them is a crime and hence I also do not give alms outside the temples. These people can not be compared with God.
The second and third problems are universal and pl do not single out India on these counts.
While I do not support it totally, I would still like to quote a saying in Kannada that means The fellow who manages to have his food is the wisest of all in a mad woman's marriage.
i will applaud phelps for his sheer hard work. in less than 10 days , he competed in 8 finals and all those heats! amazing, just amazing! and he won them all!
whatever critics have to say - thats a lot of races won at the highest levels, with the immense pressure of having to better spitz. just freaking amazing. i hope it inspires a lot of other sports persons. closer bindra has too shown that we have it in us to do it.
