Use your common sense
by Pankaj Gadkari on Aug 09, 2008 01:18 PM  | Hide replies

Stop blaming Indian sportsmen for their failure. How much time do we all spend even reading about sports other than cricket?I bet If your son or daughter wants to pursue sports as carrier,98% of all those posting such insulting comments here will bend backwards and prevent him/her from doing so.Instead you will tell him to take up cricket, won't you?
All these men and women have reached where they have without public support, leave alone any support in terms of facilities, equipments or money and awards from the government of India.
Don't just sit there writing anything because you have access to the net.
How many of us even go to watch a Kanga league or a Ranji Troph or a Deodhar trophy Cricket Tournament? No we don't because there is no glamour, insted we will criticize the national selectors for not selecting a player from your state or community.
Accept it,we Indians are not good in the world of sports and will never be unless we start respecting all sports equally and stop making our children only Doctors and Engineers.

Got what you are saying but again you are contradicting what you are saying.....you say we are stuck only with cricket and that the reason why we dont excel in any other sport and again you question how many go to watch ranji trophy or deodhar trophy which is again cricket.

What I meant to bring out that even in cricket we choose to go for what has more glamour and are partial. We forget that the national team is selected basis the performance in these tournaments.
I am not against cricket as you are thinking.

How many of you have got the courage to make your son a world class gymnast ? If he tries to practise peole will laugh and make fun of him "Dekho, yeh saala bandar ke jaisa uchhal kuud kar raha hai hehehe, Just look at him he is jumping like a monkey" That is Indian mentality.

We indians are not born athletic like european or african people and nor were the chinese. But the chinese start groomong their kids right at the age of 6.They are debarred from visiting their parents and the media comes to know about them only at the games. You people can suggest a solution for India too

The same old story gets repeated. Sending a 54 member contingent to the Olympics is an utter waste of taxpayer's money. Without a sporting culture & infrastructure, it is wishful thinking to even imagine that we would win medals.....

c'mon dude... we Indians are not meant for hardcore competition such as Olympics. 570/600 is pretty darn good by Indian standards. We are a laid back culture, so chill, enjoy and be happy. Probably Jung will be able to do better in Vancouver in 2012. All the best for that Jungy...

For what Indian government allot budget?

Indian government should ask to all players ask to bring 70% share for going to such type of event and if he/she wins he will get 80% plus reward and for official ask 90% and if his participants wins than he/she will rewarded and if loose that he/she has to deposit 50% share of expenditure and must leave.

Tell me what do you think?

It is not like that. Every thing will be bang ready on time for the event in 2010. The construction is deliberately made slow in the beginning of the project. Everybody waits till panic sets into and then in the name of meeting the target in a very short time, corruption gets a free hand. Thus every body gets a chance to make big money which otherwise was not possible if construction was done in a normal manner. This practice has been in place for quite a long time and every contractor, engineer, leader of India knows about it. Making fast money is tough in India, you know!
