I hope for better performance, rather than medals.
by Arun Prasad on Aug 08, 2008 11:23 AM

IMO medals are far from reach for Indian contingents. The thing is we don't send correct person to compete.

India has medal chances in Shooting and Archery, encourage them..
by Ras on Aug 08, 2008 01:37 AM

India has medal chances in Shooting and Archery, encourage those athletes who are least recognized. This arrogant over hyped lady who always looses in 1st or 2nd round dont need any thing. People should pray and encourage those unknown athletes of Archery who came from tribal areas and have been staying in top 10 of the world events.. Sadly they are not good looking and dont have that copy cat accent like Sania and the idiots who say atlleast Sania is the only indian tennis player can not see the talent of those poor athletes who have more chances of winning a medal..

Sania is c-grade mediocre. Do not say 'at least someone from India has..'. You have low standards then.
by C Kr on Aug 08, 2008 12:59 AM

What should make us sick is the hundreds of apologists for this useless overhyped loser's performances. Everytime there will be 30 ppl who will ask 'what have you done for Ind, at least she has come so far as an Indian'.

This means we have very low standards and will accept BS I rd, II rd losers like Sania as a creditable effort.

When war torn history kids from Serbia, Croatia are in the top 5, Sania with all the facilties is actually a II rate mediocre player. Accept it. There are far better players out there with far fewer benefits.
For this a fake accent, an Arjuna, Padma award? Come on!

She had injuries guys...

Whoever criticizes Sania must not forget that she is an undisputed ace women tennis player of India and who inspires lots and lots of young players from India. As every one come across injuries and bad luck, she also had come across a few and that affected her ranking. The criticizers must also understand that how long it took Venus Williams to come back to form after injuries. So, don't just criticize. Always try to appreciate and encourage her by writing good messages that would help her gaining her confidence level high.

I dont think she inspires anybody with her usual 2nd round losses & occasional wins- she is extremely lucky to have good looks/figure which is the whole part of her glamour quotient & so she gets ad contracts worth crores of Rs. The media has created the Indian "Anna Kournikova" for their own purpose & its a waste of time writing/reading or discussing about her.

We had atheltics like PT Usha, who had been to the final round in olympics. Just bcoz she does not have that hype she was never spotted in many advertisement. Good looks counts ..even though u are out in the first round.

Yes we as an Indian, should be always think positive cause, we are the most powerful nation in the whole World. Yes, I am insisting the 'most powerful nation'. We have the largest workforce in the world, if our workforce (Human Resource) is properly trained and utilised. We will be no. 1 in the world. That should be our attitude. Don't think negative.

So Is India still "Most powerful nation"? which cant even control terrorist bomb attacks. Look at US since 9/11, have you heard of any other attacks on US?

dear arun,

r u a sportsman who has gone beyond the second round of any international tournament ? you seem to sound like a great expert. sania has achieved so much because of her hard work & sacrifice of her parents. there was no help from the government. afer she achieved success, she got sponsors, we should all be happy for her. actors get paid crores per film do you grudge them.
