Raja Sen
by Firefox on Apr 08, 2008 04:31 PM

According to one of my friend working for Rediff, there is a good news for all the readers.
Raja Sen has applied for a leave for 1 month.
This news has already been taken as a big relief by all the bollywood film producers and all are geared up to make their releases in this month.
I request all the rediff readers to utilize this opportunity and read as much Rediff as possible before Raja Sen comes back from the leave. Atleast for a month we all can expect some good reviews and articles on Rediff.
Also on behalf of all the Rediff readers I request Mr. Raja Sen to extend his leave as much as possible.

Hamilton Overhyped ??
by Nikhil Deshmukh on Apr 08, 2008 02:15 PM  | Hide replies

"McLaren's Lewis Hamilton, that overhyped British racing superstar that country's press -- singularly dominant in worldwide media motorsport coverage -- loves to TigerWoods-ise and hail to the skies"

Mr. Raja Sen, this overhyped superstar as you put it, almost won the World Championship last season, trailing your Raikonnen by just a single point! Did you Kimi or Schumi achieve it in their first season of F1 ???

So, PLEASE, don't run down a special prodigous talent like Lewis Hamilton like that !!!

Sharath, none of the Ferrari data was used on the McLaren car last season. Does that make a point somewhere?

Unfortunate
by Commentator on Apr 08, 2008 12:26 PM  | Hide replies

This is the very unfortunate, criticising the previous pathbreaker as soon as a new one arrives on the scene.
Narain Karthikeyan did us all proud, the first Indian to drive in an F1 race. How can one belittle him?
Tomorrow, when there arrives a front running Indian team or driver (or both), the same people will conveniently ridicule Mallya & Force India.
Very sad indeed.

Narain had the seventh fastest lap time in Imola in 2005
by Sabyasachi Patra on Apr 08, 2008 09:32 AM  | Hide replies

It has become a fashion these days to belittle the talent, ability and achievement of Narain Karthikeyan. Since Vijay Mallya doesn't like Narain, so people like Raja Sen also believe that Narain hasn't achieved much. With a mishandling car, Narain Karthikeyan had the seventh fastest lap time in Imola in 2005. If anybody had seen the 2005 Australian Grand Prix, then they will realise that Narain was the first to react and start during the race. When the five red lights were on, immediately he moved his car to the right and zipped. Unfortunately, he had a bad car. Else, he would have decimated the field.

If people would have watched the 2005 season, they would have seen the fantastic race between Narain and twice world champion Jacques Villenueve. It was so engrossing, that for 14 laps, the camera was focussed on these two cars. Even with a badly handling and inferior Jordan car Narain managed to overtake Jacques Villenueve and Jacques Villenueve couldn't overtake Narain.

Narain is known for his superb driving skills in the wet, perhaps second only to Michael Schumacher. In Japan 2005, Narain was the second fastest in the practice session in wet conditions. All these with a badly handling Jordan. Narain's team mate in 2005, Tiago Monteiro had said that Narain was amazingly fast.

All these columnists who had never watched Formula one, are now proclaiming themselves as experts. And is there a faster way to make a name other than by belittling your proven heroes.

Narain and twice world champion Jacques Villenueve....??? Twice. Get yor facts straight dude. Villeneuve won it only once in 1997 and i see a similarity to his situation with now Lewis Hamilton. He was pet at Williams same as Hamilton is now with McLaren, media hype and the same then named him CAPTAIN BONKERS!!

Raja Sen, who are you to write such reviews!!
by Harish Balasubramaniam on Apr 08, 2008 07:41 AM

I have seen your articles and chats regarding F1. Not sure what makes you an authority on F1 to review performances. All sports commentators in F1 are people who have had racing experience so they know what they are talking about. There is nothing wrong with supporting an Indian team but there is no reason to cheer for the 2 cars crossing the finishing line, remember it is not a new team, they have bought over an existing team. Raja, wake up and smell the fresh air outside ...
