chess is boring
by Sameer Bhagwat on Sep 30, 2007 05:32 PM  | Hide replies

chess is such a boring game. even so, i think this is a great achievement. the govt should give at least 50thousand or 1 lakh prize for this at least. hockey players can be given more, maybe 2 or 3 lakhs. cricket is a more difficult game. they should get more.

at least the IAS officer from the sports ministry should receive anand at the airport. since he lives in spain, he might not be returning to india soon.

is it true that no major player took part this year, and that's why Anand won?

All the best active players were there. Those who did not make it like Topalov failed to qualify

what a crap you are.
he beat kramnik, leko for the title.
infact he won it in 2000 also, but due to absence of major players, the victory wasn't credited that much.

friends, dont get offended when some one asks a question. i was watching the india australia cricket match while this was happening. I heard some one say that anand didnt beat any major player and in fact he only had draws. what is the achievement in draws? for people who dont know chess, others should explain. i agree that anand deserves at least rs 50,000 or 1 lakh prize from govt. but karunanidhi is busy with hunger strike in TN. he wont give prize to anand.

Chess is boring for those who lack brains and hence lose.

Only the smart ones prevail. The others lose.

Just like in real life where the smart ones get the big bucks and good jobs , while the idiots clean dishes and plates.

Anand has won many awards in foreign countries , in recognition of his chess talent.

The world championship title itself bagged him 350000 dollars, which is more than 1 crore rupees.

And he has bagged many , many more such titles.

He has also done sponsorships in foreign countries.

He is a millionaire in dollar terms.

Isn't it a great feeling that an Indian is the World Chess Champion! Anand's garnering of this title for the second time is a record of its own! This surely will have its positive effects in India. I hope we will see more such Anand's in future.

Why should Sharad Pawar give any money to Anand?
Anand is a great sportsman,a world champ in chess. Why drag Sharad Pawar and cricket into this?
Anand must be honoured and rewarded but dont quantify or compare with cricket.

Grow Up Media

avoid cricket or kill all games......why there was no live telecast when Anand was Playing for india world championship, media needs to grow up now, its better if they start promoting all players who are playing outside the country to make all of us proud and inform us with the latest news rather than just wasting all the time on cricket & Cinema. Infact Media is making us fool by serving the things to which public demands, it should creat new awareness in indians about other games aswell rahter than just focusing on its TRP.
GROW UP MEDIA...............

i was shocked to find "vishwanathan anand becoming world champ" news as most commented in the TOI newspaper web-site...

chk out:

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/opinions/2415761.cms

how, its possible in india... indian public is commenting on a sports news! then my eyes goes to the country frm whr they r commenting... i found hardly 10% of the commentors r indians.

isnt it shame that anand's win is praise in all over the world far more than in india... when we will wake-up?
