Has Federer been tested? Out of the 12 grand slam singles wins he has played and won only three five setters.....against Tommy Haas, Andre Agassi and Rafael Nadal.....he wins matches very easily...forget beating him...taking a couple of sets off him would border a sensation...other than at the French...
It seems like the only way to beat him on fast surfaces....is a version of his own game...serve and volley....though of course in today%u2019s times the tribe of serve and volley players are as common as the dodo%u2026. Federer too, is far from the serve and volley player he was when he first won at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in 2003%u2026not to forget his marathon victory over %u2018Pistol Pete%u2019 in 2001.

My vote 2 greatest tennis player goes to Vijay Amritraj. Federer and Sampras are not even his kids....Fed and Sampras need some serious lessons from Vijay.
No doubt he is still the greatest player in circuit as you can see the ease with which Federar won the US championship. Thegreatest quality about Federar is his ability to raise the level ofhis game whenever required.

I have never seen any one play so badly and still beat a guy who plays hot in straight sets. That's Federer for you. This guy doesn't look tough like Nadal, but is mighty competitive and has nerves of steel. If it was not for Federer across the net,Djokovic would have definitely converted the set points he had in first and second sets and won in stright sets instead of loosing the final. Federer's greatness lies in the fact that even when playing terrible tennis (other than on clay against Nadal)he has enough talent to win matches and slams.

Can't agree with you more, I was watching the match and all federer needed to do was to cash-in on the nerves - he has perfected this art by now - of the young Djokovic who was playing his first Grandslam final.
How else would you otherwise explain for the fact that federer was able to break Djokovic's serve only when the score line read 6-5, or 5-4
Federer might have won the match but did not play better than Djokovic

You are right. All praise for the Serbian, who could pose a tough challenege against the number one.He has lived more than his expectation on his first grand slam final and against the World no.1.

How can u even think of comparing Nadal or anyone in the present circuit with Great Federer. He is simply all time great player. 4US open in the rows is not a joke. How can u say he plays badly.. whenever needed he bounce back and grab the opportunity

I dont understand what you mean by playing "Badly" ?? Losing your serve Once in a set is BAD ?and yet winning the set in Tiebreak is BAD ? Coming back from 15-40 , down 2 set points and then smoking some red-hot serves all the way into the tie-break is "bad" ?
D-Joker-vic must now realise that for all his fooling around, winning a Grand Slam final means you need to have the nerve as well. How many players other than Federer and Sampras would you recall had the guts to fire terrific serves at crucial moments ? And people totally underestimate the terrific level of fitness that Federer has, he is NEVER huffing or puffing around, even 2 hours into the game. In contrast to the "Bull" like Nadal, Federer seems more like a panther or a tiger and uses his kinematic skills better

Agree with u - do not understand what is 'badly' or 'terrible' tennis thats being referred. Federer played with tremendous cool, resolve and played some fantastic shots. I follow Federer and his tennis v closely, so does several thousands across the globe - go to his site and one will realise how well he has played and carried himself in this US Open. He is too good, truly amazing, the best ever. Age may slowly catch up with him but the likes of Djoker and Nadal will NEVER be able to match his achievements in years to come.

- Play badly means, u idiots, that he did not play as well as he could have! - It is in comparison to his own usual standards and benchmark he has set - It does not mean that he played badly in comparison to Djokovic. It also doesn't mean that he didn't deserve to win - If Federer had played well he would have won probably 6-2,6-2,6-2. At the least without dropping a service game

You know, perhaps you either dont play tennis at all or when you do,you dont do the math-you buffoon..winning 6-2,6-2 all the time is not only statistically impossible, but also not possible physically. So sometimes you have to bide your time and hold your serves while waiting for the opponent to cave in. Thats why some players if they are serving 1st, try to win a set at 5-4 instead of 5-3, if they have confidence in their games so they can start the next set on their own serve again. This is called percentage play, but this is beyond your mathematically challenged brain. Figure out how Federer broke Nadal at 3-2 in the final set at Wimbledon instead of 1-0.
