'Proud to be tamilian'..all these staements just show how narrow-minded people are. What great has Anand achieved?..plz tell me. There was happiness for some chess fans for a day probably. All Anand did was achieved fame n money for himself. May be he is a patriot, but what has he done for India? No one including amitabhs and sachins n shahruks do anything for others. They don't require that much money to survive but keep flooding their pockets. Are these people worth idolising? If you want to salute anybody...plz bow down to all the great people who live for others and help people in need. And these people get crores of rupees for their achievements which is based on personal glory much more than countries glory. These people are filling their pockets..how can that be patriotism? Be happy with their achievements but stop idolising them..plzzz

Mr. h r, I know Anand personally, your conclusions about him are wrong. He is a great guy and sportsman. Money is the by-product of the success. He did excelled in what he does to get name and recognition to India. We all should be proud of that than commenting with narrow minded comments. This is a happy occasion for every India to recognize that we can be the top.
If you haven't learned how to appricite talent, I suggest either you learn or just shut the help up

'Proud to be a Tamilian' made you jump like a mad monkey out of hatred and jealousy. That clearly shows. Unlike the Sharuks and Amitabhs who get all their money from the Indian public, Anand on the other hand got his fame & money from dint of his hard work. No Government , no public paid him for this, but he keeps the Indian flag flying. He achieved this Great height on his own. Talking of survival two square meals a day is enough for you to survive, or u not in luxury- having access to internet to write this, are you throwing all your money for the poor ?(though u may not have any good cause to use the money sports or otherwise) other than using it for selfish purpose. Come out of your bourgeois mentality. You are sick. Keep out this forum
I first of all congradulate you for the another milestone you have achived. I am working in Abudhabi and I am proud to become a Tamilian who achived this great achived.
Thanks and wishing you all suceesss in the near future.

Tamilian means Indian. Do you have to be reminded. Irrespective of the language people of India speak, they are Indians. It is synonymous. Why people fight over 'Indian' all are Indians.

I mentioned people of India. Even if Tamils from other countries do feel proud of the fellow Tamils achievement what's wrong. Why do people fight over it, as long as they do not hurt others. It is only a Joy they express, why curb it. If he/she writes bad about others then it wrong.

Tamil nadu goverment had announced 25 lacs to visy for his wonderfull performance in chess. and the goverment had also anounced 1.5 c package for all the players of different field its a good example to grow up other games. I already told before the players of other games will not forgive you and you people take the cricket players in your head and dance and now after the aussi series see what is going to happen.Tamilnadu is a example for developing all sports in our country. very good effort none of tv channels shows importance as it showed in ram issue.

pls do not underestimate the role of serious, constant thinking in chess. do u know what happened in 3rd ODI. is there no shame, Indians spend crores just to be humiliated, rediculed, and looked down upon globally. mind work is much more royal than physical, of course both are indispensable.

Wonderful explanation for the definition of Sports. We will ask Anand to play "Gilli Thandu" from now onwards.
RE:nope
by Ashish Kumar on Oct 06, 2007 08:48 PM
Even Gilli Thandu can generate passion among indian but certainly not this CHESS.I am not showing disrespect to Mr Anand. How many championship organized in India and how many young Indian are going to this game and how many chess players are getting indian oil jobs.No one.Chess can not be commercialized in this world and this is the world of commercializations.Winning championship is proud for any indian, but it can not give you bread and butter. We indian need bread first then other things.
Where is the media ?? Are they busy in some crime stories ???? How much coverage Vishy has got compared to cricket..
Shame on Indian media and all indian web sites who never highlights true heroes , sorry to say but this is the fact. All Indian media and web community was , are and will be busy only in ash-abhi marriage ,karina -shahid breakup , some stupid crime stories, sting opeartions and cricket .........
Among all this there is a gentle human being who is a gem and true sportperson who has never begged sympathy from any one and among worlds top 3 player since 1991....
Hats off to Anand !!!!! Our country is moving only because people like yoy are existing .....
