the indian cricketers dont even look like players. fitness , attitude.....wt all u require is lost if the cricketers. Oh ya sure...they can make hep hairstyles to model for diff. brands but yah...dun talk abt being a good player....health..fitness and all. They r all sick. Atleast, hockey players work hard on fitness and they do look like players. Performance depends a lot of infrastructure we provide them to compete. With the kind of effort we put in for hockey, they are doing extremely good.
i think first v all should pay respect to our national gmae hockey. i just wanted to say that our hockey team is any time better than the SO CALLED CRICKTER bcoz if v look at the level of facilty and money hockey has i gss it is not suffcient to develop this game. v should not forget the kind of fame hockey given to our country.....

Common guys,Hockey was invented by Indians and we have achieved more glory than any other game(including cricket) so far. I have seen all the games India has played in the recent tournment and they have done excellent job. Luck did not favor them in the match against Malaysia or else they would have easily won the match. Look at the statistics the ball in Indias' possession most of the time. Malaysia won the match b'coz of sheer luck but not their skill(Indians were more skillfull than the Malaysians). I think Indian Hockey team is far,far,far better than cricket team(which is influenced by monery and mafia)

our hockey was in pits for da last one year but v have suddenly done well in azlan shah and now wat we hear is our govt is goin to demote hockey and football in which we need more govt support,der is a lot of politics in hockey and football as well.politics and beauracacy has been da main cause for sports in india to be such a bad condidition.sports should b handled by people who have played those sports before and who have proper knowledge of respective sports they manage.

NO FOCUS TOO MUCH ON CRICKET. FAIRLY FOCUS ON MANY SPORTS SUCH AS CRICKET, HOCKET, FOOTBALL, TENNIS, BADMINTION, LADY FOOTBALL, LADY HOCKEY, ETC. TRY TO PLAY POPULAR AMERICAN SPORTS (US FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, AND BASEBALL). VARIOUS UNIVERAL SPORT GIVE MORE ENTERNAINTMENTS IN INDIA.
Beating Argentina and S Korea in this tournament should give the players some confidence. The perfomance in this tournament is a good start.
A lot depends on how the team management keeps the momentum going from here as some of the players are quite new to the International scene.
Media coverage would certainly help as would some kind of an incentive payment.

If as per the article, our best juniors are dropping out because the conditions in this sport are poor, then we are to blame and not the players for letting things get this bad and not raising our voices.
Do not be fooled into thinking that this is a dawn for Indian hockey!! Holland, Germany, Spain and England were not competing!! For a better view of the actual state of Indian Hockey, check out the stats and facts of the 2006 World Cup in Monchengladbach in Germany!! We fought for the wooden spoon with South Africa!! Nothing will change in the 2008 Olympics too!! India has not had a single podium finish in any major tournament for 32 years after the Wc victory in 1975 in Malaysia!! unless you want to count the Moscow Gold in 1980 where all the major hockey nations were absent!! If there is one sport that has flattered to deceive in tournament after tournament, it is hockey!! Atleast our cricketers win on home soil or do well in patches!! As far as indian hockey is concerned, it is one downhill journey which began 30 years back at the Montreal Olympics in 1976!!

So, what are you trying to say?? The decline of Indian Hockey began in the late 60s!! 37 years is long enough time to resurrect the sagging fortunes of a national sport, isn't it?? The resurgence of dutch hockey began in the 60s and they became world Champions in 1973!! In 10 years, there resurgence was complete!!
And if more nations are playing hockey, how does it excuse Indian hockey from losing to Argentina, Malaysia, Korea, Britain on a regular basis?? forget holland, australia, Germany or spain!! India came 11th out of 12 nations in the 2006 WC!! If this is not a disgraceful performance, what is??

Dear Mr Undertaker, seems like you are hell bent on providing the services synonymous with your name to the Indian hockey. Sorry, we are not being euphoric on the Indian hockey team winning the bronze. Just look at the balanced and rational evaluation given by Mr Harmit Kamboe. No ill will towards Indian cricketers for the pathetic showing - rather hope and pray for them to bounce back with a renewed vigour- but, let us also display some respect and honour to the young blood of Indian hockey.
This tean can be build up for the future..congrats the team they really showed the stamina ... bad luck that they cudnt make it to the final.by going thru the reports and news one can safely say that the performance of the team was excellant

Hocky requires more physical effort than stupid cricketers..Those who know abt sports No doubt Hockey has also not achieved much last few years bcoz of the petty politics..but at least look at the right reasons how much money is spent and how much effort is made by govt or anyone..
Hockey is National game..those who dont know abt it...probly just need to stop writing on such forums as they hv no knowledge abt sports and just worship their so called GODs of cricket.. Hockey and any other games..players earn very less money compared to cricket.. and most importatnly Players play for pride, for the passion of game and for INDIA not like cricketers play for BCCI and their money and the way they worship the board so they can stay in team or keep making money..
