Kalmadi and his BIG mouth!
by Harish on Jun 14, 2007 07:05 PM  | Hide replies

Truth to tell, it is baffling that Kalmadi even feels that he and his IOA henchmen can organise a Formula 1 race in India. Perhaps, the Big Mouth should be made aware of the mega costs involved besides the complex protocol arrangements like separate customs windows, direct access from airport to the track, six-lane expressways that can handle the F1 trucks, the gravel for run-off area that needs to be imported, special dispensations to F1 crew in terms of immigration etc., some 5,000 5-Star beds...the list is endless. It is clear that Kalmadi knows what he is talking about (he usually doesn't!). Who is to fund the project? Who will maintain the track? How do you generate revenues from the track during the non-F1 period? There are enough white elephants dotting Delhi. Do you need one more? Oh yes, Mr Kalmadi should first check with the Shiv Sainiks..F1 is anti-Indian culture!! Cheers!

definitely much cheaper & easier than olympics.

F1 - 10,000 crores
Olympics - 60,000 crores

kalmadi is changing from olympics to F1, like a chameleon.

No comparision between Olympics and F1. Holding F1 races is turing out to be a loss making preposition in Malaysia. Why is IOA getting into this mess. They better focus on Olympic sports........

This will give more ammunition to certain political parties to oppose it. Land acquisition/forcibly taking away lands..... will dominate. This race will never happen

It's coming to Bihar
by daltsis on Jun 14, 2007 06:35 PM

Yes, you all are right. Bihar drew a layout for these F1 Cars to pass through it's 'gullies'. It was the work of 'Lallu' Prasad Yadav which is bringing F1 to India :-)

We Need Introspection!
by vishit kumar on Jun 14, 2007 06:33 PM  | Hide replies

It is sad to read some the comments by fellow members! It seems, people can't see beyond corruption and poverty when it comes to India! I don't care about non-Indians abusing my country on the board- for them I have a simple message-Shove it up! But for my own people-wat's up with you guys? 2009 is still sometime away.Let it be.We might get the F1, we might not! The country has survived and flourished for 60 years without F1, Olympics etc. What is the need to ridicule it my friends. It's almost become a fashion now to make fun on message boards about any little or big achievement that India makes! If we do it then it's a problem, and if we don't take any strides, then it's an issue too! My friends, India has taken strides-she is only going to turn 60 this year! It's a very small time in a history of a nation, and that too of such a complex nation as our's! Forget F1, there would be lot of firsts in India in the coming years! Wat do you guys think-that by ridiculing your own country and ranciding this message board, would everything stop? No it won't-there are millions of us who believe in our nation, and inspite of all odds have done it. We might not be there yet-but we will be! And all those people, who believe in India will continue to do so and will go about their work without having a need to argue with a few intellectual crips amongst us! Though I must say that some of these comments would make people like me write something like this. I believe in my nation- if you don'

the problem is that we wont b able to break the bones of those political parties who will definitely oppose this land grab and holding this race, beacause they r politicians n have muscle power. some will lie on the race track before the race to protest, others will dig up the track ... what else can happen in a country run by corrupt politicians! pssst: barney ecclestone doesnt know all this. dont tell him plz. he'll cancel the contract then...

It seems that a lot of people get some strange pleasure in ridiculing their own country. India is not perfect but so what we should strive to make it better rather than cribing all the time. If you see a person more successful than your father, would to start abusing your father !!!

Vishit,
well said! As you said, critics will remain critics, but believers will remain believers. as long as there are a couple of ppl like you to post such posts, so will there be ppl to take india ahead and achieve firsts, inspite of all the ridicule and scepticism. Jai Hind!

Its going to be constructed in Kalmadi(A place from where Suresh Kalmadi hails from)
by Pradeep KT on Jun 14, 2007 06:18 PM  | Hide replies

As per my knowledge it is oing to be constructed in a place called Kalmadi near Udupi where Suresh Kalmadi hails from.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalmadi) His father Rama Rao still has a lot of paddy fileds over there and he might be using them to build the circuit. Here is the aerial view of those fileds http://www.wikimapia.org/#y=13348013&x=74718747&z=16&l=0&m=a&v=2

Can be used to promote tourism in nearby Goa.
Can be a great forex generator
