Who is the best ???
by vijayanand on Feb 09, 2007 03:22 PM

To decide who is the best player is all the time, one must take certain parameters in consideration. Some might be best in serve and volley, some are good from baseline and both style of play suites better to a particular type of surface. Apart from that there are other dimensions of the game like, to keep your self motivated for long periods, to evolve your quality at crunch time to clinch the game.
Pete Samprass winner of most Grand Slam according to most of tennis pundits had a very normal game except an exceptional serve and ability to come on net. But he mixed his utter determination to make lethal combination to rule tennis world for 10 years.

Agasi a proven player and winner of surface had returned to game from where nobody can even think of making a come back and played his best tennis competing players half of his age and won.

Similarly Federer of pre 2003 (when he won first Wimbledon) was a aggressive player who had a powerful game but was struggling to win matches forget about tournaments and slams. From a situation as grim as that to dominate the game in such a way, when we discuss him a contender of best of all time is it self a proof that he is among the best. His records for last three - four years are really shocking to all competitors. His best ability what i think is to play just better than opponent even when he is worst of form.

I was not lucky enough to see live game of Borg, Lever, McEnroe, Conners but their record it self is a proof. It is impossible to compare these players in between and if you compare them and decide that XXX is best of all time its not correct.

But yes certainly the way Federer is playing he is close to be best of all time in terms of slams and records.

congrulations.... Federer is the unmatchable. He plays the game to perfection. He still plays the game to perfection. He is true sportsman. Every match he executes his opponents ruthlessely and still keeps himself kool. Apart from sports, there are many things tht we need to learn from him.

Roger Federer's perfect 10
by Dragon Cares on Jan 29, 2007 10:01 AM

It's easy for anybody to critisize Federer for not having won the Trophy at Roland Garros. It's not only the Trophys make him GREAT; it's his way of playing the game, how he bahaves on and off the court, how he plays under pressure, how he handles every opposition player, how concentrates the game on the court, how he treats every player on the court, how he treats common people off the court , these are all makes him GREAT. On the court, he is very calm, quit, just concentrate the game to win the match even from the no-hoppe situation with his enormouse will-power and determination. Off the court, Federer is very humble and down-to-earth person. This is what makes him GREAT. Just think about his recent visit to Tsunami hit areas of India and you will know the greatness of this Tennis Emperor.

Rogar is best
by Purple Gifts on Jan 29, 2007 05:18 AM

its not that rogar reached aus open by luck or there was no one good enough to beat him. donno who did what in the past, but to win the grand slam WITHOUT DROPPING A SINGLE SET in all his matches is just perfect. Another point is the man itself, he never even once says he is number one but always take it as a position which he has to maintain, & realize one day someone may take over... he is a player with a mind where it should belong, not like "hey i am number one & i am god". we are waiting for you to come back & win again in AUS.

roddick

lots of ppl mentioning roddick as unfortunate becuz of federer. dudes, roddick sucks, he is the david beckham of tennis, overrated, and no good. ppl beat him all the time. to compare him to the likes of fed or nadal or nalbandian etc is a joke.
i think 1 guy can beat federer, that ia marat safin, though he is unfortunately extremely inconsistent and injury plagued. but when he is up and running, he had given a pete sampras in sublime form, a hell of a whacking. i think he has also beaten federer once.
