There are over 200 countries playing football, where as only 9 countries play cricket. India is currently ranked 151 in football and is hence better than more than 50 countries playing thi s beautiful game. On the other hand, India is ranked 5th/6th out of the 9 odd countries playing cricket. What a shame!
Its time we support the football and help our country make it to the world cup atleast once in the next 3 cups. I have played football at state league level in Kerala, and believe me its worth investing in the game. 1 hr 30 mins of unlimited passion.
India, as the winners of Nehru cup gets the following: USD 40,000 Prize money USD 40,000 Bonus prize money from ONGC INR 500,000 from Delhi Govt INR 1,000,000 from AIIF
Divide this for 16 players and the non-playing staff, each player gets around 2.5 Lacs on the higher side. Even if our cricket team is tamed by Bangladesh, on an average players earn 2.5 lacs per match!!! What a pity!!
I am ready to contribute a day's salary to revive this game in India, if the Govt take necessary steps to take up the cause.

As a die hard football fan i wholly support the idea. If the corporates do not come forward to help the cause of indian football then we general public will go the distance in helping team india. Chake de india!
This win goes as a slap to those who have been criticising indians saying that they cant produce a team decent enough from such a huge population....bravo team india... keep it going!!!

you call i year lots of time. just goes to show that you know nothing about sport. India should be seriously preparing for the 2014 or the 2018 world cup.
Excellent show by the team. We hope to see them celebrate thus more often and higher platforms. Award each of them suitably and generously and Bob, the coach with a Dronacharya award.
My heartiest congratulations to all the members of the Indian Football team and their support staff for this great victory. They thoroughly deserves all the kudos and adulations. I hope this is just a stepping stone for greater achievements in future.
Congratulations Indian Fotball team.I am a urdent football lover and just surprised to see the jeal and confidence indian team shows to win. This is unbelievable and over joyous to me.Govt sud look after football now.The infra of football in India is very poor.Even it cud not match a third division club's infra of England.come up guys do something for it to have a stable pool of competitive football players. Cheers India
