Tough luck...
by Aman on May 30, 2006 05:55 PM

She wasn't lucky this time, put against a tough opponent(10th seeded), she could have performed better.

But it is always tough to beat a former world champion and Sania has a long way to go. This is her 2nd year at international tennis.

She surely will learn a few lessons from these defeats and come back strongly in the matches ahead
and in the tournaments to come.

Here's wishing her best of luck.

Sania will never reach No.1 position in world rankings. She already lost her international standards when she started concentrating on ads and commercials.

Sania bows out in the 1st round
by amitava sarma on May 30, 2006 05:43 PM

Well this was on the cards. Mirza definitely now as it appears is not of the same class as other teenage sensations. Just imagine Martina Hingis she was away from competitive tennis for almost 2 years if not more and just see her dream run which started with the Italian open thats the true hallmark of a Champion. Mirza does not have the beans in her she with such awfull physical fitness can never dream of going beyond 2nd round. Let her quit this game it is not for her.

Donot call her sensation
by vamsi on May 30, 2006 05:41 PM

It was a great feeling seeing an indian go high in professional tennis at this level, but being called a sensation, the advertising and too many controversies starts reflecting that she is mere a show pony. She is an youth icon once for here dare attitude, she sure is an icon today as well just to show youngsters how stupid you can become when you put forward other things before the thing that made you the individual.

That's verymuch expected
by Sankar Mukherjee on May 30, 2006 05:12 PM

I'm not surprised !!. If you are following Indian TV Channels, you'll notice that Sania is giving more time to Commercial Ads rather than practicing Tennis. She has endorsed several milion $ deals with large corporates.
While it is perfectly OK to earn while you are in the limelight, she should also keep in her mind that it won't take long before the limelight looses focus on her and dump her into the garbage bin from where she originally emanates from..
-- A WELL WISHER.

always was overrated
by Chandar on May 30, 2006 04:56 PM

This is bound to happen as from day one she was tad overrated irresepctive of consistency or sustained performance. Watch her go down further though as an Indian I would not....but then reality always bites especially the way all media tries to do things their own way thinking that they are the creator!!
