schumi the legend
by vishnu raghav on May 15, 2006 07:32 AM

with out any doubt schumi is the greatest ever sportsperson there has ever been....yet with his greatness he always takes defeat with the hope of a comeback in the future...The entire 2005 season was an example of this.....however alonso lack of sportsmenship is not encouraging at all....i guess this allows kimi to become a mass favorite once schumi retires.....but that day would be saddest in F1.......

Alonso, not a good champ
by Anoop K N on May 13, 2006 08:07 PM

I surely am disappointed by the way Alonso reacted on the podium. He should take an exapmle out of Kimi's book. In-spite of having bad luck on his side, he always shows a smiling face on the podium. Alonso is a bad example for the sport. I'm 100% sure, he is going to be decimated by Schumi in the rest of the races. Forget Poles. Its race stratergy that counts. And now with Ferari at their best, its Schumi once again.

I don't quite agree with that,....
by Ganish Girilal on May 13, 2006 06:37 PM

Hi,

Despite all the acquisitions on Alonso, I don't feel it necessary for him to undergo an image make-over. The manufactures are involved in F1 to project themselves as 'professional' and 'reliable' bodies. Alonso's image perfectly fits the bill.

It is natural to feel down when we've under-achieved, there is nothing wrong in it. It reflects Alonso's passion and commitment to the sport and should be appreciated.

We don't need a 'beaming-drug addict' as champion. We need a reliable-no nonsense world champion to be the heir to Schumi.

Contenders..
by jaikrishna on May 13, 2006 01:22 PM

Shumi, Alonso, Kimi r the top three contenders for the championship spot no doubt abt tht. It all depends upon the strategies tht the team engineers set for them in each race.

Alonso, Kimi and Michael Schumacher
by Rajan Viswanathan on May 13, 2006 01:09 PM

Alonso is one of the fin est drivers to come on the F1 although Kimi is another star who could have done much better although with a less energetic team.

Wait till Alonso and Raikonnen fight it out. Michael Schumacher is all time great and does not like anything less than winning. He used to be the same as Alonso in the younger years. SO we have hopes.!!

Alonso needs to mature
by Jaya on May 13, 2006 12:46 PM

Michael is popular not just because he's a multiple world champion, but also because he's charismatic and endearing. Alonso certainly looked grumpy on the podium, and if he wants to claim a cult following, he needs to perk up even when he loses and not ruminate in front of the cameras. I agree, Kimi atleast manages to wear a surly smile, and could coach Alonso a little.

true indeed !!!!!!
by deepak nayak on May 13, 2006 12:09 PM

yes indeed.
Alonso looked dejected after the European Race,Schumi wasnt and Kimi had no expressions as usual. But right now it appears that only the fastest car and no necessarily the best driver is the winner. There are more than one who could easily win the race.Last year it was kimi was swipped the latter part of the championship with his pace, and now its Schumi.

But 2007 should be the revival of history when Alonso and Kimi (if he stays back) drive for the same mclaren.May be then we could see Senna-Prost battle resurface with Alonso and Kimi. It will decide who is the best among the two.
Till then hold your breath folks as the battle for the champion is by no means over.

Sport needs life
by Avinash on May 13, 2006 12:02 PM

We need more showstoppers, play it to the gallery players with an indomitable spirit. The Sporting world is today bereft of colourful icons like McEnroe,Hunt,Best. Of all the Sports today, Cricket badly needs one super colourful player-someone in the mould of Mervyn Hughes- just went there, played in a great spirit-all the while entertaining the crowds. Today, what we see is just a very precise, professional exhibition of skill..thats all...what it needs the most is life and colour...not just in F1 but in Cricket as well.
