Is Rediff sponsored by Ferrari? Part 4
by Rohan on May 12, 2006 07:31 PM

I'd prefer fair and sporting drivers like Alonso and Raikkonen any day to a man like Schumacher who'll stoop to any level to win. And this is the man with "character" that Mr. Sen idolizes! To quote something I heard in "Pulp Fiction", just because you are a character does not mean that you have one.

I got started on this rant in the first place because of all this Schumacher idolization. So, please Rediff, get some even-handedness into your coverage. This is starting to get pretty sickening. Remember that there are racing fans amongst us, who do not worship the ground that Schumacher treads on. Give us a break.

Is Rediff sponsored by Ferrari? Part 3

About that "What makes a Champion" bullshit, if you ask me, I'd rather have a champion who looks surly after finishing second rather than someone who punts off another man when he is danger of finishing second (some of us still remember Adelaide 1994 and Jerez 1997). I'd pick someone like Raikkonen anyday - someone who never gives up even when given a dog of a car as in 2004. That car finished 5th in the constructors' championship and could get him only a 7th in the drivers'. Yet he still managed to pull of a breathtaking victory late in the season at Spa. Or how even after losing his drivers' championship, he breathtakingly won the Japanese Grand Prix last year to keep his team still in the hunt for the constructors' championship. And Schumacher, in a car that was third in the championship did not win a single race on merit last year (unless you count Indy - a magnificient feat; beating Jordan and Minardi to victory). Oh, and don't forget him spinning in the warm-up lap and crashing out during a safety-car period (of all things), in the final race last year. Great spirit and never-say-die attitude!

Is Rediff sponsored by Ferrari? Part 2

On to this article, I'm sure Fernando Alonso would be gratified by all that "advice" you sent his way. He may have looked grim, but so what? You admit that losing is painful, and with the season still in its infancy, Alonso may have reason to fear Ferrari's performance. Yet to write whole paragraphs of pretentious crap on that one point! All of a sudden Alonso needs to "loosen up". Applesauce! And I say this though I'm not even an Alonso fan. And all this, coming from someone who idolizes Schumacher. Who once stomped down the McLaren pitlane accusing DC of "trying to kill me"? Who tapped Takuma Sato on the head for punting him out last year and then later on in the season went on to punt out Albers in the warm-up lap of a race?

Michael is a great driver & so are the other F1 drivers. Its just that Michael has been hyped up a lot. If you recollect last year, he was far behind others, thanx to his car. He wasn't able to produce any great races last season. I feel its not the driver but the car which matters the most & Ferrari this year is again on the reign; but for how long????? Alonso definately looks dejected & he should be as he was in a good position to win.

IS MICHAEL SCHUMACHER A TRUE KING ???
by Arnav Ray on May 12, 2006 05:35 PM

No doubt Michael Schumacher is doing excellent as of now but I am not sure if he can sustain the backlash from Alonso and Kimi.
Alonso will surely try to get the better of Michael.
Michael was a king but that was 2 years back!!! Alonso is the new prince of F1.
I hope the race gets more competitive in the futute races and not just 2-3 drivers vying for the championship.
