P.T. Usha declines.
by sukumarlaghate on Jun 10, 2004 01:27 PM

Dear Sir,
Usha has done the right thing. And I agree with agree comments from our players especially Shri. Milkha Singh and Shri Ajit PAl Singh.

In my opinoin they all should've boycotted the ceremony against the IOA's forgetful nature. How can anyone forget a great athlete P. T. Usha. Our athletes and other players should not tolerate such nonsense.

Any official who is responsible for this mistake/error / mischief should be made personally accountable to avoid recurrence of such an mistake/error/mischief in future. Is Mr. Kalmadi listening?

Sukumar

Fate of all sports person
by amrith raj on Jun 10, 2004 01:10 PM

All sports person should always keep in mind - you will be ditched like this. My advice to my beloved sports person->"spare some time from your routine muscle excise to heart excise which will help you face situation like this. You can't expect any change in the attitude of our citizen nor our selectors." All the best for Olympic 2004.

My advices to reporters- when you collect information do collect the entire information. Don't just make money out of news. It would have been better if one could know the Selection committee guys.

its shame on part of organising committee
by kaveesh on Jun 10, 2004 01:09 PM

it was really very bad to know that such a great athelete wasnt included in the list of olympic torch bearers.can anybody please explain that what has bipasha basu done to be eligible to hold the torch.just acted in some films that we can't eevn see with our families sitting with us.she was called just for the sake of advertising so that more and more people see the relay.since P.T Usha is not related to any of the brands that are sponsoring the torch relay ,so she was left out of that list in which her name should have been in the top 10.it is really surprising to know that they missed it out.she is doing the right thing now.she should not come.organisres deserve a no from her.

Shame on IOC
by Kans on Jun 10, 2004 01:05 PM

What a shame, our IOC do not even understand the purpose of an event of such significance. Is IOC thinks film stars of India have contributed more to Indian sports than PT Usha ?? Let the country's preset day sport persons understand their future fate under such comittee.

Cricketers for Torch Run
by Cricket Fan on Jun 10, 2004 01:05 PM

What are Cricketers anf filmstars doing at the Torch Run? They have nothing do with Olympics. It's a shame that a top athlete like Usha has been invited in the last moment, where as people who have nothing to do with athletics are taking part in the run. Shame on you IOA.

This is an Insult to all the sportspersons in India
by Yemme on Jun 10, 2004 12:58 PM

Instead of inviting our sports personalities who worked hard to take the name of our country into the medal list of a world event, they invited the film stars! And not to mention the cricket stars : Have they ever been on the Olympics?

What Usha did was just the right stuff.
Feeding on the athletes for CRICKET!

Its time Indians should seriously think about it.

It is shame on the part of IOA for not sending invitition in time to sprint queen.
by Ratan Bose on Jun 10, 2004 12:54 PM

PT Usha has taken right decision for not taking part.It is nothing but her protest against the organisers. It is shame on the part of the organisers for not sending invitation to PT USHA well in time. They might have forgotton her name.It was Usha when she spoke to media that she has not been invited then only they have realised thier blunder. It is shame. President IOA must step down immediately for such blunder.PT Usha still alive. Now itself we are forgetting her. Then what will be the condition when she will not be with us?

Usha declines last minute invitation
by Prakash on Jun 10, 2004 12:33 PM

The blame rests with Suresh Kalmadi, the head of Indian Olympic Association. When he was asked about this, he even tried to justify Usha's exclusion. The incident only shows that sportspersons are unimportant, the organizers and film stars are.
