You have nothing to loose

IT was really a creditable performance. Just carrying the hope of billion people and having the poise to break the NR twice was great. There was a great expectation from everyone in india. Even in US the indians were eager to know how she will perform. There has been no finalist (from india) in the post-indepence era in any field events to enter olympics final. P.T. usha, millka singh .... entered finals in track events. Having qualified for finals in the very first single clean spectacular jump, and break her own NR in the very first jump of the finals was a great effort. May the no 7 bothered her more when the (3) russian cleared it with ease. You could have easily jumped 6.90, if the presssure was not there. But 3 russians crossing 7 m mark was a blow to anju. It was told that even in training she has not crossed 7m.
Having said that - it was still a great effort from a great athelete and unassuming personality. She still have the ability to break the 7m barrier. Given the (sub)stantard of infrastructure in our country, it was a great effort. Right now Anju needs moral support than any thing else. ANJU AND BOBBY, WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU.

Saravanan

Meera Jagadish
giant among Lilliputs
by Meera Jagadish on Aug 28, 2004 09:51 PM

I read most of the messages. Almost everybody praises her efforts. No doubt, she stands like a giant among Lilliputs. But I feel sad when most of youll are content with just the effort. This attitude is the exact reason why India, the 2nd populous nation hasnt produced a single gold medal winner. Raise up the standard, dear country men. We can do it!!

by ANAND on Aug 28, 2004 07:48 PM

I would like to congratulate Anju heartily for her performance in the Olympics 2004. Reaching that level was only possible due to her determination and strength. It is a great feat considering the lack of facilities and infrastructure Indian athletes face.
AND I WISH U A BEST OF LUCK FOR UR FUTERE. TAKE THIS AS A CHALENGE AND TRY FOR NEXT COMING EVENTS
