Wonderful job by Indian Hockey team and Dhanraj Pilley, Congratulations! Winning a tournament on foreign soil makes it very special.

All other sports teams should be inspired by this achievement. Media should encourage the sport with more positive comments and columns.

Three cheers to the Indian hockey team! Truly, they have made India and Indians alike proud! Its high time the authorities took some serious look into the infrastructure of hockey in India rather than blindly egging the Cricket team(not that they are worth it!). Administrators, its not just money that matters ALWAYS but the pride of the nation! BRAVO BOYS, YOU HAVE MADE YOUR MOTHERLAND PROUD!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!
JAI HIND!

Congrats to the Indian Squad on winning the 2nd Leg of their series.

It has been a great performance to beat Australia in their own backyard. The present Indian side has a good mix to seniors & juniors. All the best for the future tournaments.

The article is good but you should have included the image of indians lifting the cup also, which would prove to be icing on the cake of a otherwise wonderfully written article, as you know its a long time since we lifted any cup

Indian hockey team's stellar performance
by Prabhat Soni on Jun 09, 2003 01:49 PM

Let us all stand together in our praise for our boyes. But at the same time i request all my fellow Indians to come out of the "cricket groove". They should understand that there are other games also in the world. Let us not love cricket to the exclusion of other games. The same is true of our political parties also. They should not be partisan in their approach towards other games. Perhaps while rooting for Indian cricket team, endearment to public is their consideration. But let us not forget that hockey boyes too are "our boyes". Like a good mother let us pay attention, praise a good deed, encourage a good performance in sports other than cricket also.
Likewise, out corporates should also widen their spectrum for including sports other than cricket also in their "sponsorship-list". Of course the return on sponsorship money counts, but their would be returns, if the celebrities of other sports are given enough exposure by them. Moreover the sponsorship money for "other sports" would be petty, in comparison to the one for cricket.
So, let us again cheer our hockey-boys .
