10% RESERVATION
by Mohan Ranganathan on Jan 09, 2019 09:14 AM

All parties who voted for it can make a publicity campaign during 2019 election. But in reality to implement it the bill has to pass the legal scrutiny, which will not be an easy affair. BJP AND CONGRESS will fight each other and PM will say it is congress who deayed it and Congress will say BJP is playing electon politics, Once again the people will be fooled. If BJP was sincere it could have brought the bill in 2014 itself.

The parliamnet is supreme and not the Supreme Court.
by janga sridhar on Jan 09, 2019 02:22 AM

The parliament elected by the people is supreme and not the self appointed Supreme Court.
When Parliament changes the constitution. Supreme court has to follow it.

IT IS UNWORKABLE JUMLA SHOWING DESPERATION
by damodaran mohan on Jan 08, 2019 05:31 PM  | Hide replies

It is a jumla indeed because the economic criteria of below Rs 8lacs and 5 acres limit implies virtually majority of the entire remaining population other than sc,st & obc who already have balance 50% to themselves anyway. So the 10% doesn't make any sense because they are already automatically getting more than 10%.Should the threshold be reduced to say below 2.5-3lacs then it would make sense. However the economic backwardness criteria would not stand court's scrutiny as in 1991.

Due to 7th pay commission most of college professors both private and govt and Managers are getting above 10 lakh per annum. Even many state govt employees where both parents are working, their combined salary is above 8 lakhs. This is just example. 8 lakh income is possible for people in cities but then they have higher expenditure also. Why cant they want their kid to get a govt job?

what a thoughtless quota criteria
by PRASUNE JOHN on Jan 08, 2019 05:20 PM

"with an annual income below Rs 8 lakh and not owning more than five acres of agricultural land will get the benefits of the reservation.
The person should also not own a flat of 1000 sq ft or more, land of 100 yards in notified municipality area and 200 yards in non-notified area"
Do you really think the person described above is poor??? Some one with so much money can definitely afford quality education/coaching and compete on a level playing field with anyone.
This will also mean poor people who cannot afford quality education/coaching will not be able to compete in this section and will be used only by the rich people.

What is this criteria?
by MONKEY MAN on Jan 08, 2019 05:19 PM

annual income below Rs 8 lakh and not owning more than five acres of agricultural land will get the benefits of the reservation.

The person should also not own a flat of 1000 sq ft or more, land of 100 yards in notified municipality area and 200 yards in non-notified area, sources said.

THE PERSON SHOULD NOT OWN OR HIS PARENTS SHOULD NOT OWN?

THERE IS LOT OF DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WETLAND [WITH IRRIGATION FACILITIES] AND DRY LAND.

How come they realized after 71 years of Independence and 4 yrs 8 months after BJP came to power that poor among upper castes need reservations.
