"with an annual income below Rs 8 lakh and not owning more than five acres of agricultural land will get the benefits of the reservation. The person should also not own a flat of 1000 sq ft or more, land of 100 yards in notified municipality area and 200 yards in non-notified area" Do you really think the person described above is poor??? Some one with so much money can definitely afford quality education/coaching and compete on a level playing field with anyone. This will also mean poor people who cannot afford quality education/coaching will not be able to compete in this section and will be used only by the rich people.
We have sh^t load of experts to express their opinion on Quota for economically backward sections of OC . because open category is docile and career oriented and mindful of their own business
They do not come in open streets torching buses or vandalizing public property or pelting stones. that makes them soft target for these trash cans or self proclaimed experts.
had these so called 'ANALYSES' been out on SC/ST reservations or OBC reservations which eat up 50% of the country's opportunities, these guys would have been booed out of their holes.
Since ages, Brahmins were side lined due to jealousy on Brahmin's talent and brainwash of non-Brahmins by communists and earlier British to divide, conquer India. Brahmins also do not (cannot) form significant vote bank (unlike lower castes, minorities, farmers etc who form huge vote banks and blackmail the politicians and nation for their fringe demands). Hence, to rectify the mistake, 1) abolish all quotas. 2) Introduce at least 30% quotas ONLY to Brahmins. Let others taste how to face competition.

Tamil Nadu already has 69% reservation where as the states restrict it to 50%. Apart from 69% reservation meritorious students under reserved category also can apply under General category in Tamil Nadu. If the Center adds additional 10% reservation it will be 79% reservation in Tamil Nadu and the general category persons will further suffer.
Politics is the problem. If BJP had not lost the 4 states this would not have come up. Reservation should be abolished and no party has the courage to do so as the votes go. So make it with creamy layer criteria in all categories.
