Press Conference by Judges
by Milind Sovani on Jan 13, 2018 09:12 PM

When average time of disposed of cases is 10 to 15 years, the common man is also sad. First concentrate on 3 crore pending cases rather than fighting for ego.

Press Conference by Justices
by hayavadana rao on Jan 13, 2018 09:11 PM

This is the beginning of a bad precedent. Tomorrow, 12 Justices might call a press conference against these four Justices citing some reasons including as indirect agents of some political parties. Never ending episodes.

Freedom of speech, vibrant democracy?
by Kundapur Kumar on Jan 13, 2018 09:01 PM

Freedom of speech, vibrant democracy etc. are the last resort of disruptive politics. 4 Judges protested for getting sensitive cases. In politics ministers protests to get productive ministry(like mining, state excise, etc), IAS and IPS officers want priced posting etc. In future by quoting 4 SC judges every one may protest.

Threat to democracy ?
by systems technologies on Jan 13, 2018 08:50 PM

So many learned men are saying that it is a threat to democracy and all of them are "honourable men".
I just remember a case when our prime minister was actively advocating for a "socially committed" judiciary, overriding seniority of three judges to appoint chief justice and then resignations of all the three judges in protest.
Nobody said that it was an attempt to weaken the democracy. May be that time, the trading of democracy was short by 40 years.
I feel the democracy has been successful in overcoming even that time. It will be successful here also.

Judges washing linen in public.
by auryas on Jan 13, 2018 08:01 PM

The tragedy of this country is every one can go public and claim they are doing so to protect the DEMOCRACY of this country.

Every one, given a microphone talks about protecting the DIVERSITY, INTEGRITY, HOMOGENEITY, FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY.

If my pet doog contracts flu and the veterinarian gone fishing, I go public and claim democracy is in danger.

As the AG rightly said, these things should have been talked out and resolved internally rather than going public with dirty linen.

It looks like the life size egos of these judges riding their ability to make sound judgement.

If our democracy is in the hands of these people who go public ( however serious the problem may be), despite being responsible law officers of the apex court, then we should really be scared.
