Sir.C.P. Ramasamy Iyer (true he was a Brahmin but was the extremely powerful Diwan as well, of erstwhile Travancore Cochin states) allowed temple entry to all.This dalit business is the present political communal politics in the name of secularism for the benefit some politicians .For long Mahatma Gandhi used the word Harijan .What Nehru Govts. and those who shout dalit etc today did for them, for their upliftment;What C.P. M did for eradicating casteism in Kerala , or in Tamilnadu . .Nothing compared to what NarayanaGuru and all did .Narayana Guru did yemon service in Kerala .Recall Vaikkam satyagraha and E.V.Ramaswamy Naicker.These were not Brahmins.When E,V, Ramaswamy Naicker was doing yemon service all the present day stalwarts and their parties reviled at E.V.Ramaswamy Naicker.Free education and services of people like these above had great help .Bharathiyar was against casteism..There may be people like this in other states that I do not know;one one comes to mind,Mahatma Phule.Brahmins must come to the forefront;that should help. To say that Brahmins alone can fight casteism is wrong, again politics of the communal secularism. Author is correct.Many Brahmins were in the forefront of Communist/Socialist/Nationalist/Independece movements in India & they worked for the emancipation of the downtrodden in the Indian society.Not only Brahmins but other upper caste people also did a lot in this direction. The Only people who did nothing were those from RSS/HinduMahasabha who nevr participated in the Freedom movement,supported the Brtish & dreamt of "Manuvaad" in India,& are still dayDreaming like the "Peshwas" of yore?????????????????????????????????????

Whoever you have in mind, at least the Congress, post Indira Gandhi, was never interested in casteless society.
Most of the ills of Indian society are thanks to Congress.
Of course, BJP has gone one step further in dividing India to rule it.
