After independence from British, we are trapped in the hands of our Elected Reps! Over the years, they as a Group, taken all the facilities they wanted for themselves to maintain their self respect and dignity! And we, the Real Masters of democracy have to be humble servants of our Elected Reps.! When I heard our beloved PM, who came from a humble background that he is the Servant of the people of India, I was really, really surprised to hear the words from the man occupying highest position of the country! A few year;s back another Honorable Minter of Parliament had compared the people of India sitting in the Economy Class of Aircraft as "Cattle Class". This shows how they treat the 'Real Owners of Democracy". We, the people of India always must address them as 'Honourable" irrespective of what they are! We, the 120 crore people of India are helpless in the hands of the Honorable Representatives and the Honorable Bureaucrats. After Independence, we the people of India have become 'Servants' of our Representatives. We don't know whether we can change this at all, because they are our own brothers and sisters!
What a shame...now the lok sabha speaker coming to the rescue of the shiv Sena MP. Where was the "Tai" all this while?? Will she intervene if he were not an MP?? What happens to justice for the AI staff??
MPs must set example for others with their courteous behaviour. Your point is well-taken ... but just because they are elected representatives, they cannot take law into their own hands. I pity the elderly duty manager who was slippered ... how will he face his family, friends, relatives and colleagues. This MP may go scotfree by tendering an apology ... but that man has several years to live. If the MPs need to be disciplined, one wonders what kind of punishment the Lok Sabha will mete out to this MP from Shiv Sena!
The speaker is not behaving as taai. She is speaking as a maharashtrian and out of fear of Shiv Sena. If Gaikwad threatens legal action it is for th public to throw such people out. As a tax payer I don't wish such scoundrels to misuse my money. Good to see unity among airlines on the issue. Passes to MP's should be for economy class only can't they sit an hour with their voters. PM should take stern action and bring this change in MP's.

Like Movie Theatres have right to admission and can allow only people they like, the Airlines has the right to not allow any passengers who has bad track record for creating nuisance whether he is MP or VIP. The law don't give any concession to the member of parliament as they are citizen of the country first and whatever law is applicable to common people can be applicable to them. Better Gaikwad forget his arrogance and ego and move forward in the direction of a amicable compromise instead of unnecessarily threatening to file a suit against Air India and the victim of his assault.
In India we have two laws one for common person and another for VIPs. MP who had committed Criminal act is roaming freely and intelligent speaker of Parliament is advocating to lift the ban from a MP by Airlines. She should not used single word about the criminal act committed by MP. The spineless Government has no daring to arrest. I am sorry to say that, the way you have behaved is really regrettable and I am doubting that you will be impartial in parliamentary activities too.
