But we hope with the change of leadership at centre, will bring us at par within 10 years with our big neighbour China.
In past they were more worried about the rise of RSS than the rise of Pakistan and China on our fronts.

There is no issue of Gaurakshak. Do not stick to Gaurakshak only. Better you mind that you are Indian first. If China invade India or grab Pakistan you will not be able to oppose any government move neither you will have any voice.

i read all the replies but you know ,what would be the motivation level of army person when they realise they are protecting the people who not even trust their abilities and assuming them to lose even before start .
There are many heroic examples of Indian soldiers bravery and u know even a losing child can win the race if we motivate them positively and i believe in that and want all INdian must do that

Your ignorance is astonishing. Claude Arpi is a French national and he (not she) is big well wisher for India. When such a person makes comments, we need some humility to listen rather than pass loose comments

I agree, a french national would present objectively without having any axe to grind for either countries. While we all love India & would hate to see defeat against any nation militarily there needs to be pragmatism & discretion when dealing with a stronger nation. Our crying from the rooftops will not make us more powerful than China.

It is clear that while we have improved by a large margin from what we were in 1962, China has moved miles ahead too. So militarily we may match them almost neck to neck in the army front but navy & airforce wise we are lagging far behind. Hence any step has to be taken with discretion, shrewdness & smartly. Let us not forget that political misadventure of a similar kind in 1962 led to an extremely embarrassing defeat for our forces. We must learn from History & not try to repeat our mistakes.

@Nidhi, @manojshah, @Nirmal Chandra:

Sad to see your comments.

@Nidhi: You say "how can one predict before war that China will ever invade India". Seriously? Are you aware of past war with China? Are you aware of current volatile situation? Are you aware of the aggressive noises coming from China every day? You are saying that even mentioning the possibility of Chinese invasion is a big SIN, and amounts to lack of confidence in Indian army. That lacks even basic logic or fact. Read the article. Only someone who has India's best interests at heart could have written that article.

And Claude Arpi is as much Indian as you and me, at heart, having made India his home for several decades.
