Aakar Patel is 100% right.

We, as Indians, are emotional, hypocritical, selfish, short sighted and dishonest people.

AAP was formed by capitalising the emotional weakness of the people against corruption. After they came to power with help of congress they failed to pass janlokpal so the assembly was dissolved and fresh election was conducted. They won with thumping majority. Now nobody talk about corruption and Janlokpal. Every body is comfortable. Now new issues are being invented every day to target the central government. AAP and congress have joined hands (you scratch my back I will scratch yours type). Now unless ordinary man is able to under stand these dirty politicians and their final goal India will be like this for centuries. In the name of communalism CPM had killed west Bengal and kerala. people of these states go ever where in the world with begging bowls, now face problem from the state where they migrated for jobs. Now they want to return but where is job for them in their own states. Same is the case of the so called socialist. Now where India is leading to is a big question. Younger generation should think seriously. Do not fall into the trap of these people.

Could not agree more!
by Rachit Sharma on Feb 23, 2016 09:57 PM  | Hide replies

I may not agree with the author on some of his other articles, but this one is absolutely bang on target!

We Indians are convenient nationalists.

When we are required to do something that forces us out of our comfort zone, we forget the vigorous nationalism that we otherwise display when we feel convenient! We prefer to be not responsible but jingoistic nationalists.

Littering, infighting, traffic mayhem, spitting, relieving, black money, hoarding, evading taxes, political mess, etc.- these are outside our purview of nationalism, simply because these form what is actually responsible nationalism, whereas we prefer what is convenient nationalism!

Sad, but true.

With that kind of a mindset, I can see how much you must be littering each day and how responsibly you must be steering your car through the daily traffic. Well done, Mr. Convenient Nationalist!

Nationaklism
by surendra tripathi on Feb 23, 2016 09:40 PM  | Hide replies

Saying this all is so easy, but in fact this is wrong that nationalism is not in behaviour, baring a few leaders and so called journo and literature. They only want everything according to their own definitions and which must be in their own favour, what ever different is not nationalism, that is Bhagva and non-secular in their eyes.

Buddy, what he is saying is absolutely right?

Remember the traffic rules you break everyday? How much dowry did you take? Do you not litter places when you go on vacation? Do you not bribe your way to get things done?

When I say "you", I mean "we"...all of us...the majority. If we are so nationalistic why are we the dirtiest and most corrupt nations in the world?

Right said. I agree with you. But we as individual should start on our own end. No matter how bad others do we need not do the same. I know its difficult but change happens from within. I wish we start respecting the laws and this will bring a cyclic effect some day.
