"He could certainly not be accused of Narendra Modi's style of arrogance; rather, in him, one could see a strong sense of self-awareness. His was not the in-your-face conceit of his current successor but the self-pride of an intellectually superior person -- of one who knows that he knows."

What Jairam Ramesh conveniently forgets to mention that the treatment given to PVN Rao by Congress family and after he ceased to be the PM and after his death.
PVN didn't get credit because of his policies Congress lost 1997 Lok Sabha elections miserably may be because of Harshad Mehta Scam, Telecom Scam (HFCL) etc. happened during his tenor. It is very easy to sell Public Sector Companies and open private player entry and India was socialist economy at that time (credit Congress Party). Nationalisation of Banks, Public Sector control over various sector of economy was Congress Party moto only. Hence it was very easy to open, what PVN Rao any other PM could have sold/open up public sector stake then. Now to open up Public Sector further is a challange as competitive investment of Private sector exists along with Public sector creating no more room.
Sri PV Narasinha Rao brought back strength to the four pillars of Democracy i.e., Parliament, Beaurocracy , Judiciary & Press that had been deminished during Indira Gandhi Regime , apart from the liberalisation that was done by him. If India would not have got PV Narasimha Rao as PM at that time , even India would have become like USSR. Kudos to the Great Man.RR Srinivas

He didn't bring strength to four pillars of democracy, but was instead a one man show, himself.

Hon'ble Mr.Jairam Ramesh does not know which side to lean upon...so of whims and fancies he hails PVN & MMS... In 69 yrs of congress - 5 yrs of bjp, we see that's why india's rupee value is shining equal to American currency..!!! hahaha.... Congress freed india and then let a series of scams , fodder scam, bofors scam, union carbide tragedy, etc etc.... If PVN was convicted during the trial then he would be the first prime minister.. his sons both involved in scams... and now MMS- the great economist is in COAL scam.... superb!!!Way to go!!! Worst now congress teaming with LALU who is under lens for FODDER, who never wanted computers bcz millions of Indians will lose jobs, and today his children are into insurance, software, politics...sounds great!!!

This article is an example of that how favour of public opinion is created. Though there is nothing wrong with it. PVN Rao also had various Scandal to its name like Telecom Scandal (HFCL & his telecom minister Sukhram), Babri episode etc. The opening up of manufacturing & industrial sector for private players was the need of we forward castes to negate public sector prominence as caste based reservations in public sector were restricting forward caste from which Congress got support at that time.

Ramesh says "Almost the entire Congress believes that he wanted the masjid out of the way so that a permanent solution to the imbroglio at Ayodhya could be found." seems to be correct. PVN Rao took bold step here.
no doubt he is the best prime minister I have ever seen from Indira Gandhi. he is the person who sacrificed the party interest over nation builing.right he is not Gandhi and to a great extent minority appeasement of the party6z are the reason that he did not get his due

No because: 1. His leadership lost 1997 Lok Sabha election miserably. 2. It was easy to sell Public Sector Assets/open up economy in 1990s as India was more of closed & socialist economy then. Now its tough as Private equity investments and Public sector investements ahev balanced out. 3. While selling off public assets (opening up economy) people in power ate some of its stake i.e. Various scams happened like Telecom Scam (HFCL & Sukhram), Equity Scam (Harshad Mehta) etc. People realised in the name of opening up economy Congress Party then is making thier own share cut... elections results reflected that.
What an opportunist the writer is.Modi,s clean sweep is not digestible. How come All of a sudden focus on PVN who was totally rubbished by Congress, jurnos.
He was country's premier, congress leader. During UPA rule only PM MMS had guts once or twice to say good things about this extremely experienced leader. All congressman had no guts to say few words to eulogise this man.Congress President SG & VP RG never ever uttered a word of appreciation.
This is just because in congress either Family has to be in power or rubber stamp.Democratise this structure first!!!
