Nagpur illustration is best and Must...
by G Ramani Iyer on May 31, 2015 09:55 AM  | Hide replies

In early 1970's till late of 1970's Nagpur used to have very bad high temperature, which included nearby Wardha and Pulgoan. It was very severe and lots of life as lost due to this high temperature and heat waves........
Then there was a great effort lead by a effiicient and dynamic Civil Servant officer and his teams....With a span of half a decade and even today the heat waves and hot summer as trounced and packed off...................

The formula as very simple and straight forward. Fast and quick growing trees were planted and taken care to grow .....along the edges of majoy and minor roads...houses ere encouraged to nurture and grow trees.........

I think instead of debating and feeling the heat waves.......before onset of monssoon...fast growing trees nursery be started. They must be immediately rushed to every dwellings to be planted, reared and nurtured taken care off.............

Smart cities & urbanization is must for modernization and urbanization.....but clean city is a must and requires vegetation, its upkeep, protection and caring.

Leaving aside the poverty, squalor, malnutrition, unabated corruption, age old prejudices, dirty politics, hypocrisy. Yes, India is the best.

atmospheric changes

The performance of the govt. shld be judged by how many million new saplings have been planted rather than how much increase was made in urbanised areas. Also Dr. Harsha Vardhan shld try with all his might to increase excise duty AND road tax on cars, the worst pollutants just like he fought for excise duty hike on cigarettes.

More greenery/plantation not hotels at hills/hill stations
by Rajeev Kumar Sood on May 29, 2015 09:32 AM

We all know if we have more green plantations at hill top we get better rains and plantation at hill slopes help in avoiding floods and plantation at planes improves water table. What blunders we are doing table top in Mahahableshwar hill station near Mumbai/Pune is being used for adventure sports ideally it should be green top with thick forests which will give more rains and whatever plantation is left is being destroyed by making space for cherry farming which later becomes illegal dhhaba and later fine hotel. It is suggested more Mango and fruit being trees are planted at Mahableshwar hills as people are cutting less fruit bearing trees than wild trees as seen at Ganpathyphule another tourist beach resort where you can see Ratnagiri Mango trees on public roads and people help in preservation of these Mango trees if forest department is listening please plant more fruit bearing trees viz; Mango,Guava ,Jamun,Coconut and other spices like neem,Ashoka tree all over India and see the effect on monsoon.Hill stations to be specially green with more plantations than hotels .Request to The Government of India especially Environment & Forest Mr.Javdekar if you are listening please make horticulture & Forest to be one ministry and plant more fruit trees and herbal trees like AMLA etc by forest officials all our India and people and tribals will themselves help in preservation of forests and hills.

Rising Temperature
by valsala harikrishnan on May 28, 2015 05:52 PM

The excessive use of ACs in malls, houses and everywhere else is one of the main causes for the rise of temp. The average temp may not be very high, but temp outside the buildings increases considering the electricity converted to heat. The rich and affluent will not experience the heat stroke, only the poor has to suffer.

The climatic Heat wave due to excessive use of
by jatinder nayar on May 28, 2015 02:37 PM

The Heat wave across the country is due to the unprecedented use of GLASS and Aluminium Sheets in buildings to make them look smart. The Glass will reflect back sunlight in a higher density light beam resulting in high temperatures and so is the same with the Aluminium sheets as they also reflect sunlight. The use of thick glass and aluminium should be restricted or rather banned as they are aone of the prime factors for reflecting sunlight back into the environment. Just do a small exercise. Take a glass and reflect sunlight from it and see that the reflection is many times more powerful that the sunlight.
