Yoga is 5000 years old, at that time Islam or Christ were not in existence. As such, we may call it belong to this sub-continent. We may call it Vedic era, Hindu era or any other name, whatever suits to everyone.
Let there be no doubt about it. It was created by HINDU saints and ascetics for the good of human body. Today everyone is free to adopt it. Those who do not like it MUST stay away. It is unfortunate that it has been made into a business by westerners.

Don't link it with ancient texts or scriptures & stop using phrases like Surya Namaskar. Then it will be treated as universal exercise otherwise the taint of being linked to a religion of idol worship will never leave it.

will you allow to change your name ? since it reflects your religion. of course know, but still have friends from other religions. So is Surya Namaskar , a proper noun.

yoga is not only for 'Hindus'. It is more or less like other excersice. Some of the steps mentioned in suyra namaskara is followed by our Muslim friends in there namaz. So why these, it will help all whether you are of any other religion of this world. Jai India, Jai Indians.
