Please don't politicise
by Raj Gopal on Jun 01, 2015 05:23 PM

Please don't politicize any institution. The students take the help of local political parties and get manipulated by them.

This is typical example.

clever ploy to get some "castes" out of IITs
by Raghavendra Ravi on Jun 01, 2015 05:21 PM

There are some very committed groups in TN who want some castes to get out of TN and they will find various ways to do it. Beef ban - is it a topic to worry about in IITs?? these groups are upset that those castes are still getting admission to IIT M.. Political parties in TN also want these castes to be eliminated - perfect synergy...they will couch all this under an ideological banner.

It is most unfortunate to see what is happening in the Institute of national importance. What lessons Aam Adami is expected to learn? Are we really concerned with masses? All institutes have a code of conduct. What is freedom?
Academic is a power house generating innovating ideas, contribution to knowledge, setting a new path, removing the existing harmful, anti-human, anti-social path, and moulding mind set up for public/human good/interests.

Freedom is never free, it goes with a heavy cost.

Freedom means self-bindings to achieve something public/individual good.

Freedom is a tablet having a bitter core coated with sugar.

Is India in a real sense a free country that adopts from time to time one or the another type of freedom cry?

For freedom-demand have logical answers to these questions:

Freedom from what?
What is freedom?
Why freedom
Where freedom?
Freedom to whom?
Freedom when?
How to implement freedom?

How can dissent on government's policy be seen as spreading hatre
by arvind potdar on Jun 01, 2015 05:09 PM

Who is actually spreading hatred? Who is trying adopt divide and rule policy? Who will be ultimate beneficiary? It is a universal agenda for few national and international groups to spread hatred about RSS and Hinduism.
A human being is always fearful of his misdeeds of his past and are these groups fearful of their sins of past?
If anyone try to go to the rout the rout will reach to MISSIONARIES. Why a thought of Ambedkar is critical for RSS? Its a problem in two brothers, why the outsider need to bother? We will resolve the problem ourselves.
Media need to play important and constructive role.

fundamental rights blatantly violated
by brian crasto on Jun 01, 2015 05:05 PM  | Hide replies

1. Right to equality: Which includes equality before law, prohibition of discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, gender or place of birth, and equality of opportunity in matters of employment, abolition of untouchability and abolition of titles.
2. Right to freedom: Which includes speech and expression, assembly, association or union or cooperatives, movement, residence, and right to practice any profession or occupation (some of these rights are subject to security of the State, friendly relations with foreign countries, public order, decency or morality), right to life and liberty, right to education, protection in respect to conviction in offences and protection against arrest and detention in certain cases. Fundamental rights apply to all citizens equally whether he is student or not, child or an adult, man or woman, any religion. If the fundamental rights of PIO were violated in a developed country there would be a big hue and cry and these PIOs will ask for a huge compensation from the government

Remove caste reservations in IIT
by R Swaminathan on Jun 01, 2015 04:52 PM  | Hide replies

This is what happens when you fill up undeserving students based on caste reservations into IIT.Remove quotas from all over TN and let merit alone prevail. This will prevent lumpen elements from entering this institution and spoiling its fair name.

Reservation is not for economic upliftment alone. Some sections of the Indian society were subjected to generations of social, academic, economic, political oppression that they need help if they have to some how overcome this large gap that still exists in this society.

Totally wrong and your statement is hate spreading, many students in upper caste are much lower to even SC,ST status, it was given purely to uplift the poor and deprived.

Several groups may not even be interested in "higher education" and hence their representation will be less - there is no conspiracy in all this // there are certain castes in TN who have NO representation in politics .. how did that happen??

Reservations should be meant for making a person eligible to compete & achieve results ,not directly pass on the results .So what Mr swaminathan told is 100% correct .
