As of today the Muslims and Hindus are just competing to out do each other. I stay in a locality where there are two temples and a mosque. Its EXTREMELY religious environment and we are "BLESSED" with the temples playing loud automated GHANTA & MRIDANGAM thrice a day for 20 minutes each and the Mosque blaring on its horn loud speaker 5 - 6 times namaz and various extempore discourses and lectures by clerics.
There should also be a PIL that doctors should not loot the public in name of false checkups .. Also a PIL that doctors or nurses can never go on a strike . And a Govt doctor should not work in a private hospital .As a doctor, he should file PILs for all that too .
Coming to Ganapathi , it is a tough call .
Noise pollution and smoke during Diwali , road blocking during other festivals , loud noises from mosques and temples .. Politicians meetings and processions Film actors shootings in public New movie releases blocking the traffic CM convoy going on in a road ..
It is easy to say to stop all the these , but very tough to implement .
Also, note that during elections what happens on road, crowd, noise ,traffic jam all to suffering people..festivals ofcourse it religious festivals can not be stopped..but..what others can be stopped...think..
I have seen people dying twice due to traffic created by goons during such festivals. 1. first case was - an ambulance not able to move at worli since boys of some political party loaded on trucks for Dahi handi. 2. a private vehicle at Thane majiwada carrying a patient at majiwada during ganpati. our sleeping govt will wake up only when this happens to their family

Festival that brought us freedom? The Britishers got scared of Ganpati and decided to hand over freedom to it's followers, i guess.
