We need to know more of these types of warriors who really make us feel proud.Till now only British generals or the Mughal emperors were spoken of.we really should know more about these warriors and my request would be to exempt these movies from all forms of taxes since they are teaching us our ancient history
I am a great fan of Ghengis Khan and his exploits. Particularly I am a great admirer of the feigned retreat technique, perfected by his great General Subedei. Reading the Talkatora exploit was just like reading the Battle of Kalka River of the famous Caucasus raid, where they routed the combined forces of russian principalities.
Thanks to politics of vote bank by one family, Indias greatness has been systematically buried to keep one empire in limelight. If someone questions it today then the old stooges scream intolerance.
I have the same grouse about the historians who devote one chapter to every mughal ruler but only a single chapter to the whole of South Indian history.
One mistake in the article, the assumption only Pulikeshin and the Marathas invaded North India. The Cheras and the Cholas did it multiple times. In fact the great king Rajendra Chola has the distinction of being called Gangaikonda Cholan ( Chola who captured Ganges) and also the only indian king who captured territories outside the subcontinentin the process spreading Hynduism to Burma, Thailand and Bali Island of Indonesia
Peshwa Bajirao's achievements need to be celebrated for what they are, regardless of his caste and religion. He is one of the few Indian generals who find mention even in Western war strategies'manuals. Secondly, Col. Athale has rightly highlighted some adverse comments on the Peshwa, not to mention Marathas and the Maratha confederacy, in general. Some of these 'commentators' are regular columnists for Rediff, and appear to carry some sort of chip on the shoulder about erstwhile Maratha rulers, especially those in Baroda!
Neglected and shown list respect being Brahmins is natural, as they were loyal to the king but not smart and did not bothered like other who were deputed in north to collect revenue from Mughal area to build their own kingdoms to take care of their clans for several generations, declaring themselves are royals.

Mogals were last entrant into muslim kings. They fought wars with tughlaks and other pre era kings prior to mughals.
Genius military strategist.Battle of palkhed is a masterpiece and a study material for military establishments. Unfortunately doesn't live long. Chattrapati Shivaji established and Bajirao set Maratha empire across hindustan..Indeed inspring story.
In my opinion bajirao's exploits pale into oblivion because of great generals like Santaji Ghorpade,Dhanaji Jadhav and Tarabai who led the Marathasto victory against Aurangzeb whose empire was reduced to dust. Most of the historians are Brahmins who are not likely to ignore a .brahmin hero. No doubt Bajirao extended Maratha influence in the North
