Why Chimaji Bajirao's younger brother and all his family warriors against him? is Mastani only reason? If not, this would have change total history of British India.
At the Third Battle of Panipat, the Maratha commanders lost all of the lessons learned by their predecessors and fell into the same patterns of stupidity, leaving the cover of their own guns and charging into feigned retreats. This cost them a battle and an entire army
The tragedy of Indian history has always been nepotism. With a few exceptions like Shivaji, Bajirao and some others, rank, influence and caste allowed people to become commanders rather than merit. And this create brave soldiers being led by idiots for leaders.
It took the British to organise the Indian armies into an incredible fighting force, which it continues to be today. They put in discipline, tactics and proper leadership which has become the backbone of our officer corps.

In short, you are saying that the Indians are in huge debt to the British for yet one more reason !
It seems cast factor has played major role in not deleting objectionable scenes and songs from the film. Everybody blames Peshawa dynasty for defeat of Maratha rule and bringing in British Raj, however no body objects to Subhedars Scindia, Holkar, Pawars and others for not helping Peshawas in last battles against British in 19 th century.
