Kindly tell Sudhir Bisht to stay for a few days (not weeks/months) in any Army forward post and then come back and write the story. BSF and other paramilitary also do a fine job but please do not equate it with the Armed Forces which lead the operations. The BSF does not lead any attack!
Send all these fellows to Kargil or Siachen Glacier and ask them to spend 15 days there. If ever they come back in proper shape, they will jeep their orifices closed for ever and agree for OROP!!

BTW, I have commanded an oil depot in Kargil for > 15 days, when it was freezing

Commanding an Oil Depot does not make you a combatant.

Dear LD Sharma Sir, Are all Army Officers in combatant role?
If the Prez, Vice Prez, Ministers, all the worthless MPs and most importantly all the Group A bureaucrats can get OROP, then the soldiers have a stronger case. Apparently the author has not gone through the Koshiari Committee report.
When someone joins a service, he is aware of the nature of service, the pay , perk and pension attached to it. Therefore to demand more than the benefit agreed upon is not fare. It is fallacy to belief that only defence people are patriot and others are not, they need to be treated diferently. What about police and other paramilitary forces? Every other day there is incidence of persons belonging to paramilitary forces being killed ? what about them?

We know what a great job the Police do in this country. Taking bribes at every street corner! Equating them with the job of soldier guarding the borders is pathetic.

so you mean no one in army are corrupt. go and see their lavish life after retirement.
The writer has not gone deeply into the matter. Obviously, the longer an Officer serves, less will be the advantage of OROP to him. Soldiers who retire in their 30s will benefit more, as they should. The writer has totally overlooked the fact civilian government employees have benefit of NFFU which helps all of them to retire with the pension of a Lt Gen, so how can they say give us OROP too.
It's not just about the pension . Tied to it is the status vis-a-vis the babus which had been steadily brought down .This carachter is just trying to create a rift within the armed forces .

Are the working conditions of defence forces same as of a babu sitiing in Delhi.???? Is the retiring age same for defence forces and other govt employees????
Is the tenure of all govt servants is 2-3 years at a place. Is there a govt service wherein a person is transferred from an area of -45 degree temp to 45 degree temp. All the above and many mre discomforts are faced by the defence forces, the pension rules can not be the same for all as Apples and oranges can not be equated.

Govt. cannot descriminate its employees whether he is sitting in Ac rooms or in the warfront. if OROP is granted there is going to be a turmoil among all govt. employees. the govt employees who retired in 1980's are getting less pension than the employees retired in the year 2000s

Nobody is forced to join Army. They dont allow normal civilians, secondly they take only children of ex-army.. so why all this fuss? What is written in appointment should be followed.

As myself was rejected as I was normal civilian..one can check the records u will find more than 80% are children of Ex Army.

Mr "human" forget about any records. The very fact that you admit you were rejected means you are a reject material.

Mr Joy Kutty you are probably a babu sitting in Delhi or Ernakulam. The entire country knows how much work is done by a typical Govt employee!

Sharmaji - out of our approx.12 million defence personnel how many are in the border areas. In can say very negligeable. Rest of the personnel are not having much work to do, either simply sitting in the offices or sleeping in bracks, eating and drinking.
