Very telling that Nobel committee seems to know more about the "good work" done by Indians than our own media. Where was this guy all these years --- I hardly saw his name mentioned.
Also, all the awards won by him down the years are from USA. What does that tell you?
Then, the "India-Paki equal equal" fiction promoted by all goras.
Why all this is only discussed or flashed at the time of elections, why not in the regular course. Actually it should be checked and verified during the regular frequent intervals, so thats things move as per the terms and norms specified.
India does not have any health and safety laws, If it does then it is not followed or implemented by the H&S authorities. That is India. But even in UK where Health And safety law is followed and implemented with no room to manoeuvre outside the law. Time to time even here we find foreign bodies in the food. Dead Rats,Cockroaches, Worms metal bits etc are found in the food. India is no exemption.
There are few toilets in rural India where open defecation is the prevalent practice. It will be difficult to keep school toilets clean without piped water supply, which is not there. We may think in terms of dry type trailer toilets close to the schools separate for boys and girls and similar sulabh type toilets ( wc;urinal and baths) for households not having any. For lunch, we should seriously consider as suggested in the earlier post to provide packaged meals cooked hygienically in modern kitchens run by Amul/ Mother Dairy/IRCTC etc.

Just poster hanging of clean India will not be good enough. We have, markets, shop, hotel, buildings, every thing to add to cleaning list.

This an area in which a lot of research and development is required. There will be many in favor of doing it all in the open. Changing mindset itself can be a problem. Census data on rural housing tell a very pathetic story.

All India needs to do is install self cleaning toilets as we have in Europe and UK. Insert a coin, In UK it is 30pence and in France it is 50cents with similar price throughout Europe. use the toilet there is no need to flush, as soon as the toilet is vacant and the door closes the toilet goes into self cleaning mood. ready for use by the next person. This what is needed in India also required is a discipline from the public a big time. Without the public discipline nothing will work.

Self cleaning toilet is the answer but how many in rural India can afford to pay 30 pence or 60 cents for one use. R & D is required to find much cheaper alternatives. So that subsidy burden for free self c;eaning toilets is minimum.
It is very surprising two neighbouring states himachal & haryana, Himachal is in most hygenic position and Haryana is most dirty but the other side of the coin is that Haryana Aanganwadi worker get 7500 rs per month but Himachal aanganwadi workers get only 3500 rs a month every national can see the diffrence. shame on govt. part and salute to all Himachal Aanganwadi workers and their seniors.

This depends partly on the population also. Compare Himachal and Haryana population distribution first please.
