petrol & diesel prices
by Ajay Lamba on Oct 14, 2014 09:27 PM

Their is so much duty & taxes on petrol & diesel . The inflation increases mostly because of the prices of these products . The govt should reduce the taxes on these products if they want to reduce inflation drastically .They can increase the taxes in some other product so that there is no loss of revenue for the govt

Minimum price for petrol to be Rs. 250 per litre and for vehicles 2-wheeler price to start with Rs. 3 lacs and any 4-wheeler the price to start with Rs. 30 lacs. Govt has to act immediately to implement the above rule to curtail pollution and choking of the roads. For the convenience of the citizens, public transport to be strengthened with efficient handling. This is how it was till about 20 years ago, when our roads were less choked, less pollutants in the air and clean atmosphere.

u must be having an alternative plan for movement betwee workplace and home for distances ranging 10 to 40 km and available public tranport system being unreliable or time taking. In most cases where independent/ shared transport takes 45 to 60 minutes, public system wud take 2n to 4 hours depending on number of tpt changes involved. Sharing is a practical and viable option

The public transport system to be strengthened to such a level, where every 5 minutes through should be buses plying between important places within cities. This is only the need of the hour. Only the elite classes should use the 4-wheeler and not all, which was the norm earlier. I remember about 20 - 25 years ago, the CEO of our company would travel by Maruti800, and the rest of our organisation used the public trpt, and there was no complaints.

At present our cities are choking with vehicles, traffic rules and violated with impunity, and there is havoc on the roads. The Indian cities are on the verge of an explosion with vehicles choc-o-bloc as a teethless administration and callous vehicle trying to violate all the traffic rules risking the lives of school kid, senior citizens and weaker people.

The very subject of the matter is the 'logic'. If you are a professional, that would mean you belong to the elite class, and you would not violate the traffic rules and drive responsibly and more importantly it is people like you should have the 4-wheeler. As for the public trpt, this is where the crux of the matter - that the public trpt to be strengthened to such a level, where every 5 to 10 minutes buses / other modes of trpt plying between important places within city. That most of the Indian public is not matured enough to own a 4-wheeler as they lack responsible driving and also there is seldom any care for the environment.

without providing an alternative transport! trains including local are overloaded, busses overcrowded and uncertain and cities being wide spread and home to workplace. home to schools being beyond daily movement possibility on foot/ bicycle!Govt should act tough but after providing alternative.

why not to implement one family one vehicle???so that poor also live a respected life, increase in vehicle's prices will only widen the gap between HAVES AND HAVE NOTS.For improvement in our environment we have to be back on bycycles specilly for school children, senoir citizens and in thin populated places.

by prasad rao on Oct 14, 2014 05:14 PM  | Hide replies

All bulk buyers of crude oil get discounts for long term contracts from suppliers??? Are the discounts being reported in the books or being siphoned off from suppliers to offshore accounts?????????

There is no accountability of oil companies or oil ministry.
They amount of money wasted each year can build one toilet for every Indian in 5 years.

Purchase of Petroleum at what Prices?
by jatinder nayar on Oct 02, 2014 07:45 PM

It is apparent that India as a country will be purchasing crude on contractual prices and not on day to day basis. This MCX crude prices are daily trading i.e. daily satta. This is not actual taking delivery of stock as now perceived by our UPA govt. this is nothing by day light loot of Indian Citizen

fuel prices in India
by ganesh narayanan iyer on Oct 01, 2014 02:38 PM

We must know the cost per barrel of refining the crude as compared to other countries. It will be high in India because the no.of employees per barrel is bound to be high. In the case of Air India it was revealed that there were almost 300 employees per aircraft as compared to 150 employees in other airlines.

Such Statistics have no value. Data should be accompanied with analysis and such data should be with a greater resolution to understand better. Rediff continues to be a mediocre system, with hardly any intent to improve

Diesel consumption not because Cars vans It is mainly due to Lorry, trucks and Diesel generator. Lorry and and Truck transport can be cut by introducing more Rail transport instead of Trucks. Coal cause for power generation and power cut. some thing done urgent basis this can be brought to Negligible amount
