Very sensible column indeed.AFSPA repeal is needed more for our own sake rather than for looking good in eyes the international world. Don’t we as Indians people feel guilty of subjecting a section of our own people to unfair and unequal treatment ? Continuing AFSPA only underscores Army's lack of confidence in itself. Subjecting the very people we call our own to such a draconian provision is unacceptable and giving a handle to our enemies to propagate against us. Moreover people of any region for that matter will always feel alienated by use of such discriminatory laws and with increased awareness on human rights, women’s right issues etc. such laws are bound to prove counterproductive with fresh problem cropping up everyday. Worst comes to worst it can be reimposed but we must give it a try.It is for the Army and govt. to keep adequate vigil at the borders to ensure that the need for such a regressive law is not needed. If GOI thinks the LAW is essential for K to be integral part of India then it might as well handover K to Pakistan.
The writer did not mention the plight of Kashmiri Pundits. The brutalities, killings, r@ppe persistently done in the past 200 years by the secular community of India that made them leave the valley!!
The author conveniently goes hammer and tongs at the Indian Army, which has protected the state and country from the rogue Porki army and has done such a sterling job during the terrible floods recently! What did the separatists do!?!? Force people to get off an army boat and prevent the army from saving lives!!! So basically, it seems that the author is writing against the honourable Indian Army, but does not bother writing a word against the rogue Porki army and separatists! And he does not bother saying anything about rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, about repealing Article 370 that grants autonomous status to the state, even though this was done wayyyy back in 1974 and was supposed to be 'temporary' - I mean, how much more 'temporary' can you get than 40 years?!!?!? It is quite obvious that the author has riled against India and the Indian Army in this ridiculous and highly biased article!
