There will never be any peaceful settlement to this issue.

India will have to do this with force one way or the other. Discreet way is the best!

It is complete nonsense to believe that the questions of who was right and who was wrong and guilty can be forgotten while settling matters involving killing of otherwise innocent human beings. Any agreement between two countries is bound to fail if it is made before deciding who attacked wrongly and who defended against it.

That is the reason that lasting friendship of India and Pakistan is not feasible, though stop gap administrative arrangements can be given the name and style of peace agreement.

At present Indians do not have the courage and Pakistanis do not have the honesty to inquire into the questions of right and wrong. They are not willing to come clean right from the day 01 of conflict, that is almost the date of Independence.

Humans cannot be killed and forgotten and the situation get restored to normal without any accounting for their killing.

What Pakistan can accept minimum is known to India.
----------------

The Ox-Bridge settings which likes of Mr. Kasuri and Mr. Iyer represent have, it appears enabled the leaders on both sides of LOC to work out a mutually acceptable deal.

Given the context in which the discussions took place it can be safely presumed that the understanding reached has the blessings of their security establishment. The feasibility criterion of the deal is perhaps established.

Now that genuine democracy exists in Pakistan and has undergone two gyrations, the consensus within their political establishment could make it workable.

The voices emanating from India, like disparate opinion about Article 370 hints that consensus within India is still not available. Likewise the PP P scion also voiced an anti-consensus opinion, which implies confusion persists in Pakistan as well.

The assessment of the scenario being a minefield is therefore pretty accurate!

The Ox-Bridge setting was the context in which partition took place in 1947, hence perspectives for genuine reconciliation is perhaps best available from this vantage. The great work done by the small set of interlocutors to create a workable solution deserves to be examined thoughtfully and implemented .
