Growth Vs inflation
by Milachen on May 23, 2014 10:24 AM

Modi mesmerized a section of the masses with just a one liner "Development for all" - a vague term which can be interepreted differently according to the whims and fancies of any individual. This combined with the tremendous disenchantment with UPA II propelled him to power riding on the faulty first past the post electoral system. It remains to be seen how Modi will ensure equitable development for all and how he will be able to resolve the conflicting objectives of growth Vs inflation which remains an economic puzzle intriguing economic intellectuals ? Corporates, Elites and Upper middle class want high growth. But parodixically this growth can be ensured only at the cost of commoners. There is no other way to ensure high growth which also depends on a host of local as well as global factors. It is another matter as to whether high growth really ensures high quality human development. Gujarat is one good example where high growth hasn't translated into tangible human development. The votaries of growth cite the trickle down effect on the poor as a consequence. But it has just not happened. A damning statistic which can shame India today is that our neighbouring Bangladesh has better Government investment in education, health and sanitation. In Bangladesh and China only 8% defecate in the open whereas in India over 60% defecate in the open. This only goes to show that despite all euphoria about growth and its attendant benefits, real development is yet to re

India's problems
by Ramesh bharat on May 23, 2014 08:33 AM  | Hide replies

Are way too complex for a single man to make much difference..Kashmir, china, North-east, Maoists, crumbling infra, water, pollution, poverty, unemplyoment, crime , terror...illiteracy, health..the list goes on..even if Modi is a a given a free hand for the next 10 years.. there might not be a any significant difference.. our country is damaged beyond repair and will take 100 years to set it right....its 65 years since indepedance and we still dont have one city on level with Singapore.. forget Singapore.. noone of our metros can campare with bangkok, jakarta or manila

My Dear Friend , This negativity which you had mentioned above is what congress has given us in 65 years ? This is the way Congress thinks and not Indians.... I am Glad and Confident to say that We Indians will rule world within 10-15 years from Now......I am confident about it if we not only support Good governance but also be a part of it .Just mentioning or saying wont help to grow but as an Indian we should be take active e part in it to grow.

Apart from the above points of mentioned by Ram Kelkar , but he also missed one major point which can make a difference for the growth and that is "Jan Andolan" for the growth , whcih can create a Major change in India . If we think BJP could change the Indianomics is only by Jan anadolan . Support of Mass Indians for the Indian growth.
We are Bhartiye and our style of living is Hindu and thats what Bharti tva mean.... So dont disceminate Hindut va word ....

"Jai Hind"

Why Nehru?Why not Sardar Patel
by R Swaminathan on May 22, 2014 09:34 PM  | Hide replies

We do not want Modi to become another nehru-the only mistake the Mahatma did in backing him.Kashmir,China problem, idealism without bothering about country's interest and so called secularism when pakistan was carved out of India all are his doings. It is sardar Patel who was instrumental in forming India as we know today.

Here, being Nehru means being a PM during a momentous moment that signals a big change. Nehru was a m0r0n, but he enjoyed 18 uninterrupted years to destroy India. But in thus context, Modi has become the PM at another historic moment, and should get at least 2 terms with a sweeping mandate. Here, hs has an opportunity to root out all the evil that has crept into politics, namely pseudosecularism, communalism, minority appeasement, soft state, fake history glorifying the invadors and vilifying our heros, clean up names of Nehru-Gandhis from all publuc places/ roads, recognize & award the forgotten heros tbe place they deserve in the public space, bring back black money, recover the loot of last 10 years, plug all the leaks, send Chidambaram, Gandhis and all corrupts jufucially to Tihar (Electric Chair is desirable)....
