We know that Modi will fix power cuts soon like he did in Gujarat. And like in Gujarat, he will also make the roads as smooth and fast. Finally like in Gujarat, he will bring down US Dollar to Rupees 40.
I am installing 500 Watt Solar panel at home & solar water heater to curb the growing electric bill. The solar DC shall cover TV,Fans and bulbs during day time and even for 2-3 hours at night reducing need for grid power. CFL lights use half the power of normal tube lights, so are a good tool to reduce the bill further. The cost of solar is one time and apart from saving bill, it helps reduce dependency on grid power. It's really worth trying.

Tata's have already launched Tata Dynamo, a high-performance 1KVA power system comprising solar panels, inverter and battery. It is much cheaper than Prof Jhunjhunwala's suggestion.
Like in US we use all appliances with 120 v plus harness wind nuclear and solar from solar homes to commercial places and whatever solar surplus energy is pushed back to the grid and the federal gov pays the consumer for uploading surplus power.

In India the grid often goes off. We need power then, which can only come from batteries.
Finally a man who cares two hoots about Bureaucracy . He is a super man thought his project is aspirational . Met him first time at IIT chennai . Gem of a person .

dear All, Today Brush less DC ceiling fan solar panels , solar charge controllers are available across india. Most of the webcommerce portals are offering this product. The only painful part is that, i tried to get the subsidy offered by the govt. i was told that it will be given , only if i take bank loan. Not an issue. Any way, my only wish is that we should make these products in india.
