What an idiotic comment
by balaji on Jul 03, 2014 05:03 PM

"In construction of such structures, these leakages are normal and generally require attention after the first showers.”"
Next Air India Chief can also come out with similar logic, not rain but clouds

once i saw on NGC making of metro compartments. on that program they were testing compartment to be leak proof during monsoon by spraying water jet on metro compartment with specified speed and time and than after inspection they were cleared for dispatch.... so contractors of Mumbai metro have provided substandard products and looted nation or in other word they have looted us (tax payer)...

I agree.Mr Anil should be held responsible for looting the poor public who are helpless, and made to pay compensation apart from fixing the problem. How can you design a metro for Mumbai without taking into consideration the rain fall aspect.
Shame.

Metro train a big sham
by prasadrao on Jul 03, 2014 03:01 PM

This collected water in metro trains can be sent to drought areas in and around Mumbai, can act as water tankers if not suitable for passengers.

Careless attitude of officials.
by krishna bhavanasi on Jul 03, 2014 02:59 PM  | Hide replies

See how carelessly this statement is made: "However, after the image went viral, an official of the Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd said, “At a few locations, leakages were reported during the first spell of rainfall. These leakages are being rectified. In construction of such structures, these leakages are normal and generally require attention after the first showers.”

Next if accidents happen, they say accidents are normal and generally require attention after the first death.

Yes, it is an irresponsible statement from Metro official, who could be part of the team who built it. Pile lines are tested before leakage, high voltage power transmission lines are tested before commissioning, rails are tested before commissioning yet he may argue it is not mandatory to subject an infrastructure to leakage test before commissioning. Mind, huge towers not even his residence is not tested before commissioning but they do not leak. Miserable state of engineering we possess to show case.
